an absolute classic western/musical featuring archaic but fun characters, great dance and fight choreography, and perfect music for the story. i grew up on this film and it gets better with each viewing.

When I was eleven, I was pushed into taking a part as one of the brides in a school stage play adaptation, and was at odds with the movie for a while after. Therefore, I try to rate it wihout prejudice.

Adam is a woodcutter who, after marrying Milly, takes her home to meet his b...( read more)rothers (there are six of them, and they're all named after Bible personas). Milly tries to turn the caveman - esque brothers into respectable gentlemen, and soon, the boys meet a group of girls they'd like to marry. All would go well, if Adam didn't have a really dumb plan (which, of course, works in the end).

Though I disliked it first, I admit, it has appeal. I'm really quite partial to the songs, and the actors are spunky. In total, not that bad at all.

My all time favorite musical. Poking fun at the barbaric misgivings of men and women the story gives much to laugh with as the cheerful songs keep you singing along.

ok...the acting isn't great and i'm not a big fan of musicals, but i had to put it on here simply for sentimental reasons as my sis and i would always watch it and sing along to the song "i'm a lonesome polecat"...yes...it really is the name of the song.

Brilliant, with two amazing leads of Keel and Powell singing some great songs. Its a western, romantic, comedic musical; Phew!, it has it all.

Centred around a very 'down to earth' man who gets himself a bride in one day in the nearby town which is awkard and his new bride mus...( read more)t now find his six other brothers wives and neaten them up with lighthearted and funny outcomes.

A very feel good musical and with wounderful choreography from the archaic male characters. However Powell and the other femal characters are not left out of the liemlight with some beautiful scenes of singing and sincere moments.

Obviously from teh title it is romantic, which it delivers with tender and loving characters and scenes and it still does'nt forget its roots of a hardbuckling western full of punch!

This film should put a smile on anyones face, and its great to see a musical set in a different light and backdrop that really works.
