My only complaint about this one has to do with its length..

I think it would have been better if some unnecessary scenes were reduced..

On the other hand, I have to say how impressed I was with Brad Pitt's marvelous performance, too bad it's one of his least popular roles because he truly does a great job with it..

Great story about the arrogant Heinrich Harre (Pitt) who is touched by the Dalai Lama and changes because of that.

Annaud's desire to create an epic tale actually harms the production, since it results in unnecessary scenes that pad the running length to more than two hours.

How a young arrogant man during the period of WW2 learns to become a decent man through his experiences in Tibet, especially as he builds a strong friendship with the young Dalai Lama. This film is a moving story with great acting by Brad Pitt and David Thewlis as the two outsiders in Tibet (In fact the orginal outsiders in Tibet). The background of Tibet in this time is that of a small peaceful nation dealing with imperial China.

I've been waiting for a place like Flixster to let me say this: This movie really did feel like seven years in Tibet.

The movie is not true to the book and conveniently distorts
many facts, portraying the Chinese Army as heartless and cruel.
The Chinese government is justified in banning the movie there,
but banning Brad Pitt from entering China!!? Well, thats
something flummoxing! Pitt's rightly pissed off with the ban.

This was pretty good. A little confusing as to Heinrich's reasons for what he does, and a bit long, but a good watch.

Like "The Last King of Scotland", we get whisked into another culture, and witness the political atrocities through the eyes of an outsider. We get some strong character development from Brad Pitt's character, while this is one of Pitt's better performances. The film does a sufficient job of educating the audience of the history of Tibet, and the challenges it's people and culture face to this day. At times this film seems a bit long and lacks focus, but in the end the journey is enlightening.

La película muestra muy bien la atroz invasión y toma del poder de los comunistas chinos con desprecio total por la población, su pacifismo y su soberanía. Actualmente de máximo de interés.

With all of the superficial attention to his good looks,Brad Pitt is often stereotyped as a pretty face who can act. However, he is an excellent actor who has a very pretty face!

This movie blew my mind, although it's been a long time since I saw it.It is one of Pitt's most stellar performances, and unfortunately one of his least popular roles.

It's time to spread the word, about this beautiful film, about a beautiful country where one cold, self centered man grows up,while befriending the child Dali Lama.

I fell in love with Tibet (as it was presented here) after having seen this movie. And it is unusually respectful concerning culture and religion for Hollywood, it tells the story of a forgotten part of the world (to this day occupied by China!) and with the amazing kid playing the part of Dalai lama I was both moved and pleased.

Not exactly what I thought this film would be, but having a spiritual side I enjoyed the journey and of course a view of the place I would love to see more than any place in the world.

Accent wise, not a great performance from Pitt, but the experience and story of the film are more important.

Very nice movie, with a lot of heartwarming moments. A passionate, courageous, and chilling journey." I think that's going a bit too far, but it was still a very good movie. Brad Pitt portrays an angry man very well.

Nice movie, albeit kind of slow. I did enjoy it, don't get me wrong, but it felt like it lasted forever.

Very nice movie, with a lot of heartwarming moments, though not quite what the back of the VHS library copy said: "A passionate, courageous, and chilling journey." I think that's going a bit too far, but it was still a very good movie. Brad Pitt portrays an angry man very well.

One of the best movies Brad Pitt is in. Has a very intriguing story line. It leaves you thinking about the Tibetan culture. Leaves you appreciating their way of life and sociology. It also inspired by a true story and an amazing one at that. Overall it is a very very great film.

It was badly made and I don't think Brad Pitt was ready for his role. But I still liked this movie.
