God this was almost the worst serial killer movie ever. I only watched it to be with a girl. I shouldn't have bothered. The date was bad, this movie was worse.

David Mills: I seem to remember us knocking on your door.
John Doe: Oh, that's right. And I seem to remember breaking your face.

This movie really is something!! its intense and clever with a great suspence... Its a masterpiece!
    --------------------------------------------
Plot: Police drama about two cops, one new and one about to retire, after a serial killer using the seven deadly sins as his MO.
    ----------------------------------------------
SPOILERs are coming next.. dont read if you haven't watched the movie!!
    ----------------------------------------------
The last scene in the car is deffinitely one of the best movie scenes I've ever seen!!!
I cannot quote all but here's just one of my faves lines:
    ---------------------------------------------
John Doe: You should be thanking me.
David Mills: Why is that, John?
John Doe: Becouse you're going to be remmembered after this.
    ---
John Doe: Realize detective, the only reason that I'm here right now is that I wanted to be.
David Mills: No, no, we would have got you eventually.
John Doe: Oh really? So, what were you doing? Biding your time? Toying with me? Allowing five innocent people to die until you felt like springing your trap? Tell me, what was the indisputable evidence you were going to use on me right before I walked up to you and put my hands in the air?
    ----------------------------------------------
I love the ending!!!! it's so unpredictable! just love it (L). Kevin Spacey's best performance ever!!! John Doe's sin was Envy. So he hated himself and wanted that Mills kills him. He won. The last sin was wrath (Mills). AWESOME!
John Doe: "It seems that envy is my sin."

(A review only for those who have seen it, Spoilers ahead)
Back in the day, when it was first released, you had no idea Kevin Spacey was even in this until the very end. It was nice, really, not really having any clues to who was doing it. But alas, the internet sucks.
So now, anyone wanting to see this movie and does research online says "o hey, Kevin Spacey is in this" might not be sad, but damn it, wasn't it a nice surprise going in and having no idea?
Anyway, Seven is a crime thriller for the ages. A religious psycho bent on making his killings into sermons murders victims by the seven deadly sins.
David Fincher knows how to make a good thriller, and this grabs you and doesn't let go. Just when we're done with one victim, another is found and its just as confusing. An ending that you won't forget, though it might not seem that spectacular the first time you see it, it'll stay with you.

Wow, I can't even express how good this movie was. It was so creepy, so interesting, and so captivating all at the same time. The idea of the seven deadly sins being turned into murders is just an awesome idea and this movie did it so well. The acting was great, I loved Morgan Freeman in this. He always has this sense of calm around him and I guess that helped keep the story on it's feet in my opinion. Kevin Spacey being cast as the murderer was great too. He was so incredibly creepy! And then the ending was just too perfect. If you haven't seen this film already, you really need to.

Not for all tastes but the atmosphere generated is a triumph of the director. He has put together possibly the best suspense thriller of all times. Must watch it several times to explore all the script layers.

david fincher is suited to this dark tale about 2 cops whose case involves a seriel killer doing the seven deadly sins as killings, pitt and freeman are a great team and the bad guy who we dont see, try not to find out who else is in this, as when this came out this was a major factor, as its inportant to 3rd act, great visuals, setting the city as a melting pot of crime, and although deaths arnt on screen, you feel every death

A deranged, yet super-intelligent, serial-killer is commiting a series of murders inspired by the seven deadly sins (or perhaps he just watched the 1971 horror film The Devil's Nightmare)! Cops Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt are eager to track him down before he strikes again and he is allowed to complete his deadly agenda. This is a dark uncompromising thriller excellently directed by David Fincher with a shocking (if not entirely surprising) ending.

William Somerset: I meant to ask you something before, when we spoke on the phone: Why here?
    David Mills: I don't follow.
William Somerset: Why all the effort to get transferred? It's the first question that popped into my head.
David Mills: I guess the same reasons as you. The same reasons you had before you decided to quit, yeah?
William Somerset: Y... You just met me.
David Mills: Maybe I'm not understanding the question.
William Somerset: Very simple. You actually fought to get re-assigned here. I've just never seen it done that way before.

    1. A Brilliantly crafted story, with some good twists and turns and unsavory methods for our killer.

William Somerset: This guy's methodical, exacting, and worst of all, patient.

    2. Very well casted. Freeman and Pitt work well together, as well as the rest of the supporting cast.

David Mills: Honestly, have you ever seen anything like this?
    William Somerset: No.

    3. The tone is perfect. The atmosphere is very dark and moody. The city is almost straight out of a dark graphic novel, constantly raining, dark colors throughout.

William Somerset: This isn't going to have a happy ending.

    4. A smart villain. Nothing cliche, no unnecessary twists...oh it was him...none of that. His reveal is clean, and he has more to do than just get in a lame shootout with the cops in the end.

William Somerset: [Reading from one of John Doe's journals] On the subway today, a man came up to me to start a conversation. He made small talk, a lonely man talking about the weather and other things. I tried to be pleasant and accommodating, but my head hurt from his banality. I almost didn't notice it had happened, but I suddenly threw up all over him. He was not pleased, and I couldn't stop laughing.

    5. The deaths are brutal. These are sins for a reason, and it shows the limits that they can be put to, and we are not even shown them being preformed, just the grizzly aftermath.

David Mills: What's in the box?

    6. A great chase scene in the middle of the movie. A perfect cat and mouse segment. People not automatically knowing where to go, playing it safe and not running straight into rooms, very well done.

    [picks up the phone]
    David Mills: Hello?
John Doe: I admire you. I don't know how you found me, but imagine my surprise. I respect you law enforcement agents more everyday.
David Mills: Well, I appreciate that... John. I tell you...
John Doe: No, no, you listen, all right? I'll be readjusting my schedule in light of today's little... setback. I just had to call and express my admiration. Sorry I had to hurt... one of you, but I really didn't have a choice, did I?
    David Mills: Hmm.
John Doe: You will accept my apology, won't you? I feel like saying more, but I don't want to ruin the surprise.

    7. It's a David Fincher movie, his first real movie, after Alien 3 was taken away from him. He creates the perfect amount of tension and suspense, while wanting you to keep watching.

John Doe: Nothing wrong with a man taking pleasure in his work. I won't deny my own personal desire to turn each sin against the sinner.

A great, dark, moody, crime thriller.

William Somerset: Ernest Hemingway once wrote, "The world is a fine place and worth fighting for." I agree with the second part.

"You know this is not going to have a happy ending." So predicts William Sommerset (Morgan Freeman) as we enter the third act. By this time we have witnessed the crime scenes of a handful of the most bizarre murders ever captured on film...and that's only the start. This is the film that would catapult David Fincher to the director status he enjoys today. Although not a "horror" film, it still stands as one of the most unnerving films I have ever seen. Have a strong heart when you see this one.

Magnificent thriller movie unequalled by all of its genre.
The dialogue is superbly studied, the case seems real.
Kevin Spacey completely steals the picture when he gets involved.

I hate scary movies, and I love Seven. It's absolutely terrifying and shocking and still a great film. Kevin Spacey's performance is dead on, and Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman also deliver. Highly recommended.

GREAT thriller!, Brad Pitt rocks this flick and Kevin Spacey even curdles my milk. Surprised me, and that's hard to do. The 6th sense is the only other movie that did that to me.
