    Whenever I see the Shaw Brothers logo come up @ the beginning of a film I hope Im in for something special; Shaolin Challenges Ninja was a pleasant surprise. Chia Hui Liu (or as many might know him as Gordon Liu) is Chinese & takes a Japanese wife in a prearranged marriage. The ...( read more)thing about his new wife is that she is proficient is many forms of Japanese kung fu including ninjutsu which Liu (& his Chinese ways) finds quite distasteful. After one of their many physical fights Liu's wife returns home to Japan; Lui writes her an insulting letter & her new kung fu teach takes exception to it & takes a group of thugs (& all of varied kung style) to China to show Lui Japanese style is better than Chinese style by kicking his ass. The clash of Japanese & Chinese styles are cool (you get to see Crane vs Crab) & there is a variety of weapons on displace throughout making SvN a little kung fu gem.
