Lokanath directs the Telugu-language contemporary drama Sharada - a dissection of the day-to-day problems plaguing Indian-American domestics. Ramakrishna and Vianaya Prasad star as husband and wife Mohan (a software engineer) and Radha (an esteemed female physician). First generation immigrants from India to San Francisco, the marrieds enjoy a comfortable lifestyle thanks to their affluent careers, but feel deep and abiding concern over the misbehavior of their two young children - Sharada (Joy Bhat) and Anish (Anish Shandilya), who have begun delving into uncontrollable rages and temper tantrums, at least partially in response to their parents' chronic abandonment and disregard of them. A psychiatrist (Sridevi) evaluates the son and daughter, and informs the couple that such aberrant behavior is also (perhaps equally) a product of cultural confusion and the consistent deprivation of exposure to their native Indian culture. In response, the parents summon the grandfather, Mohan, who flies from Bangalore, India to San Francisco with an associate to tend to the children's needs. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
