Goodness I just realized that i havent comented on this film yet!
Ok here is the problem that most critics are having with this movie...It is to reved up compaired to the old. But ya know what? thats how its suppose to be! Yes a lot of this movie was extreamly far fetched and...( read more) it jumped around but, I enjoyed it immensely!! Robert Downey Jr. is on his comeback. I just watch Chaplin last night and realized was a GREAT ACTOR HE IS! he is marvelous. And this role (much like his character in Iron Man) suits him very very well. Jude Law was great to watch as well. The two work together nicely. Rachel McAdams was too shabby either. I loved her character as well. If you are looking for a fun much we twists and turns see this.

It's almost like a graphic novel adaptation where Sherlock Holmes battles supernatural forces in a superhero action flick with implausible stand-offs. However, what makes the movie is the attention to detail for the Victorian period and some great comic acting from Downey Jr. (in...( read more) the overly-camp Johnny Depp style) who provides an excellent eccentric genius portrayal of Holmes together with some memorable witty remarks (many taken from the original stories).

Once again, what is old is new again. Re-boot fever has taken over our favorite London detective in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes. No, this isn't Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, it's Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law as House and Wilson-oh, sorry- Holmes and Watson. The film center...( read more)s around the duo capturing Lord Blackwell (Mark Strong), who has been involved in some odd rituals, other than tea time and depression. After being hung it seems that his Lordship rises from the dead and takes a shot at taking over England and points west, so it's up to Holmes and the recently engaged Watson to stop this maniac and bring order to the London.

The first thing I want to get out of the way is the assumption that this Sherlock Holmes is an ass kicker and the film basically pisses on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's work. Yes, he is an ass kicker, but the mind of Holmes is still there. That over worked (or over drugged) mind that has mesmerized his audience for over 100 years. Of course this movie livens it up a bit, because we're in a post Bourne world where everyone is trying to rip that movie off (I'm looking at you James Bond).

The film is a very entertaining romp that fires on all cylinders. Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law make a great team with Rachel McAdams playing the ever present femme fatale. The film clocks in at over two hours, but doesn't feel like it. That's always a good sign right there. It's CGI heavy, but it doesn't really feel that way- either they did a good job or we've been beaten in the head with it so much that we don't notice anymore. Sherlock Holmes is a nice little popcorn flick that delivers an entertaining two hours and with the weather being as craptastic as it has been lately, this probably wouldn't be a bad one to warm up to.

Enjoyed this one as expected. I was happy to have most of the questions about the mystery Holmes was working on throughout the movie wrapped up by the time it was over.
The chemistry of Robert Downey and Jude Law is obvious, and there are some really good comedic moments infus...( read more)ed into the plot that kept it interesting.
As expected, they left it wide open for a sequel, and I can say that I'll definitely be there when it hits theaters.

Sherlock Holmes is a very interesting movie. I had high expectations yet I couldn't help but feel a tiny bit disappointed. Guy Ritchie is a great director of smaller films but I'd hoped he could make a great blockbuster. Now, he made a good one but not great.

Sherlock Holme...( read more)s just feels a little cliche. There's so many scenes that have been done a thousand times. For example, mysterious girls tricks Sherlock and chains him to the bed. Or Sherlock encounters a giant man wiith a big hammer when he only has a small hammer. Sure enough, Sherlock throws it, the enemy unaffected, then Sherlock runs away. Some of these scenes are entertaining but I just got tired of seeing old material.

This is not your father's Sherlock Holmes. I liked this because all the action was pretty exciting and the dialogue was funny at times. In the movie, Sherlock Holmes earns extra money by competing in a fight club. I know this wasn't in the book, but the fight was choreographed greatly and it was fun.

The comeback kid, Robert Downey Jr., shines as the title character. His quick wit goes perfectly with Jude Law's Watson whose a bit more serious.

Overall, Sherlock Holmes isn't great but it is fun. Haters of the film will say it's Downey and Law fighting their way through London. However, I believe the plot is interesting enough and the dialogue make for a fun movie experience.

Great FUN! But mother's will say "it's a bit violent" .... Another great holiday pic. Downey Jnr can do no wrong at the moment, and Jude Law is fantastic as his ever faithful (and irritated) sidekick.
