Infamous in Asia this anime is beautful but perverse. The series/film fuses JudeoChristian imagery (not beliefs) with Buddhism to create an almighty mess, Philosophically it's a parent to "The Matrix".

Absorbing, disturbing and powerful, The End of Evangelion is a provocative anime that really taps into the heart of the humanity while to using religious elements to furthur the story. The plot is sometimes muddled but you can't help but be drawn in by this spectacle, the charact...( read more)ers go through hell and the creator Hideaki Anno throws everything and anything he can at the characters to progress their anguish. Its a tough watch but no anime fan should miss this truly brilliant masterpiece. 8/10.

Obviously you need to watch the T.V series to understand the plot, but even as a stand alone product it is utterly engaging. Without this, Eva as a series just doesn't explain enough and consequently dissappoints most people. However with almost 4 episodes worth of content, this ...( read more)movie gives a unique climax that is both easy to understand emotionally and incredibly deep philosophically and plot-wise. It also helps to see this as a psychoanalysis of the human psyche's focus on the outside, whilst the original ending is a psychoanalysis of the psyche of the inside. Again, meaning it complements the series and needs to be seen as in intertwined entity with the original ending.

The less this is analysed the better. What you get from it is what you get from it. Cant ask for more than that.

An epic, violent 'finale' to the popular series with a complete mind fuck of an ending.

Possibly the best ending to an anime ever. Seriously worth watching the series for.

And even then, go watch the series in any case!

It's the end of the OVAs.
    Still lack of ending explanation.
But overall I like the story.
I hope the remake would be better.
