    I find it quite stupid that people think this is better than the original. Personally though I don't hate the film, but I do feel it is quite inferior to the original and has the air about it that it is simply a cash in. But if you can over look the horribly mediocre and unfocused first act, the film picks up the pace, delivers a decent enough storyline and keeps Johnny 5 as the main focus, even when the script is not as charming or funny. Acceptable enough.

    Los Locos kick your ass...! Ben's lines were better in the first, there were just more of them in Two. Isn't that SPECIAL? Derf! I remember crying like a puss when I was a kid as Johnny wrote "dying" on the wall.

    I didn't like the first one, cos it tried to act like a classic, when it wasn't. This film didn't. It was like they filmed it for fun. A funny and a touching film.

    I have fond memories of the short circuit films and Johnny Five so to revisit my love of 80's movies I dug out my DVD and watched them again. SC2 is a good edition to the movies. It's amazing how they made Johnny such a loveable character and the fact that he isn't human doesn't ...( read more)even come into the equation as you watch the great movies. The return of Johnny Five was joyous when he re-emerged out of the crate. Tim Blaney (who later went on to voice another unforgettable character Frank the Pug in both the men in Black movies) brings the character of Johnny Five to life and his admirable personality does make you feel sorry for him during every insult and every piece of violence that is done to him. Back when I was a kid I shed tears when Johnny got wrecked by the villians and even now to this day, I find that a hard scene to watch. It feels like a friend is being smashed up or someone you have grown to love getting wrecked, you feel upset and angry at the same time. Anyone who says they never felt one bit of emotion during the scene, they are either a liar who they don't care about any other living thing but themselves. The violence that Johnny encounters is extreme for a family movie. It's just as bad as if a human be it man or woman was beaten to death which is basically what happens to Johnny Five. That aside johnny Five does use some great one-liners during his conversations. My fave would be "Don't worry, my cousin was a Harley Davidson" or Oscar, you will not get away, i'm really pissed off." Tim helps to bring a human side to Johnny and even for a moment, you can forget that he is even a robot. Fisher Stevens who did an exceptional job as Ben in the first movie, returns with a much bigger part than he had in the first movie. this time instead of being joined with newton like he was in the first movie, Ben becomes good friends with Fred played by Spinal Tap's Michael McKean. McKean does a good job portraying Fred who is a bit of a rogue and greddy to start with but you row to like him later on, especially when he helps Johnny Five with the villians. If they do get a good story for SC3 It would be best if Stephanie, Newton, Ben, Johnny and even Fred returned for it. Johnny Five is alive!
