It wasn't what I expected but Rober actually can make this kids movies and not only for kids. but it wasn't what I expected but it was nice and quite entertaining!!

'Shorts' is set in the suburb of Black Falls, where all the houses look the same and everyone works for BLACK BO...( read more)X Unlimited Worldwide Industries Incorporated, whose Mr. Black's BLACK BOX is the ultimate communication and do-it-all gadget that's sweeping the nation. Other than keeping his parents employed, however, Mr. Black's BLACK BOX has done nothing for 11-year-old Toe Thompson, who just wants to make a few friends...until a mysterious rainbow-colored rock falls from the sky, hits him in the head and changes everything. The Rainbow Rock does Mr. Black's BLACK BOX one better: it grants wishes to anyone who holds it. Before long, wishes-gone-wrong have left the neighborhood swarming with tiny spaceships, crocodile armies, giant boogers...and outrageous magical mayhem around every corner. But it's not until the grown-ups get their hands on the Rock that the trouble really starts. Now Toe and his newfound friends must join forces to save their town from itself, discovering along the way that what you wish for is not always what you want.

Eleven-year-old Toe Thompson is the designated punching bag for the bullies of the suburban community of Black Falls, where his and everyone else's parents work for Black Box Industries, makers of the do-it-all gadget that's sweeping the nation. But during a freak storm, a mysterious Rainbow Rock, which grants wishes to anyone who finds it, falls from the sky. Suddenly, the neighborhood that Toe already thinks is weird is about to get a lot weirder. As the Rainbow Rock ricochets around the town - from kid to kid and parent to parent - wishes-come-true quickly turn the neighborhood upside down in a wild rampage of everything from tiny aliens to giant boogers. From Robert Rodriguez, director of "Spy Kids," comes a magical fantasy adventure told through a series of shorts that each brings to life the sometimes wonderful, often terrible, and totally out-of-control wishes that become far more than Toe and his neighbors ever imagined.

Perfect 5 stars for a kids movie. You got kids, get this. Hit's on all cylinders. People with their fucking head shoved up in a gadget (black cube in the movie) like iPods, Cell Phones etc... Amazing script and reliant as all hell. Might go over most people [retards] heads but, a...( read more)mazing/genus way of shitting on the digression of humans beings ,cause of all their precious material gadgets and obsession with said gadgets [black cube] IMO.

kids movie. Cute, fun. There?s 3-4 mini stories that tie into the main plot about this rainbow wishing rock. Each child takes their turn with it whether it be a castle, a backwards wish that makes a booger (lol) come to life. Plus a wish that?s memorable from a commercial..some...( read more) sibling rivalry etc. Comedy ?adventure? & thensome.

  • December 3, 2009
The ending ruined the whole thing!
  • December 3, 2009
Total kids of movies - the booger part is disgusting!

I don't think any director is more in sink with a child's imagination than Robert Rodriquez. I mean, he's such a kid that he had to include a giant booger monster in this movie. Which kids will find funny, grown-ups will be grossed out however. Still, I was entertained by the sce...( read more)nes that didn't include nose picking, small boogers or giant boogers. Which is most of the movie at least.

The movie is fun and the kids have chemistry. Especially Jimmy Bennett (Orphan, young James T. Kirk in Star Trek) and Jolie Vanier as the girl bully. Their scenes together are actually more of a show stealer than the magic rock. Still, I can't say the film is better than Spy KIds 1 or 2, but it is at least much better than part 3.

I am not sure if I enjoyed this soo much because I saw it right after Zombie's fiasco, or because it made me feel like I was nine years old. If I was 9, this would be the greatest movie ever! Rodriguez's imagination is quite something, with every and anything he can imagine in he...( read more)re. Watched this movie with my niece's and nephew. From the sound of their laughter and their screams, I think they enjoyed it a lot more then I did. But I did like the movie. Thought it was funny. Had some really grotesque moments that made me a little squimish. But it was a fun movie. Not to be taken serious. It's definitely a movie made for kids. Not a lot for of adult action in this movie. So I would definitely recommend seeing this with a kid to fully appreciate the fun of it.

My best friend and I were bored one afternoon and so we headed to the cinema. We randomly selected this movie to watch and it was quite okay I guess. It was a lame movie but the humour in it compensated for the lameness of it. Overall, an okay movie that I would not watch again.

I saw it with a 12 yr old, which was the right market... other than the sheer delight of James Spader and the amiability of Bill Macy... there wasn't a lot for me, but the 12 yr old loved it
