this movie was definetly different. i applaud rodriguez on doin something different. tired of the same old shtick some of these hollywood directors are doing. keep up the good work rod! cant wait for the sequel
Sadly shot in black and white,the massive outpouring of blood is somewhat disguised in this movie.Appart from that,what a movie!.Bloody,gory,brutal and magnificent.
A savage, bloodthirsty movie based on the comic books of the samr name. This one is definately not for the squeamish. To me, one of the main beauties of it is the comic book feel of it, and the photographic technique.
It is shot in black and white, with occasional colour thrown in.
The story line is good, and I enjoyed it . What does that say about my psyche?
Some people like this film and some people hate it. It was okay for me. Hard to rate. I've never read the comics books. It would recommend this film to comic fans.

A wonderful hommage to Film Noir, this movie speaks out to the grown-up cynical in me constantly saying that life is shit and senseless. Tied with "V for Vendetta" as best comic adaptation, the hatred of Alan Moore for the movie version let's Rodriguez's "Sin City" come up on the rainy, dark rooftop.
Sin City is probably one of the coolest and cleverest film of 2005 and maybe even of all time. My favourite plot is That Yellow Bastard parts 1 and 2 because I think that this one is the darkest out of all of them. The Yellow Bastard/Roark Jr. is such a cool character because seeing black and white visual effects with a yellow man. He even has yellow blood. Also I think Hartigan is a really cool character and I love Jessica Alba as Nancy Callahan. I love The Big Fat Kill which is where a man called Dwight is with his lover and he has to leave to defend and protect the prostitutes particularly Gail who then becomes Dwights new lover from Jackie Boy who is portrayed by Benicio Del Toro. I also love the Hard Goodbye with Mickey Rourke, Elijah Wood and Jaime King. I love the visual effects on this film more than I do on 300. It is basically the colours like the black and white. They are all in different sorts of black and white. I love the other normal colours in this film like the red and yellow. I love the color of the red dress that the lady wears at the beginning of the movie. The Yellow Bastard is probably my favourite character from the whole film because of his psychotic character and also the colour of his blood I love aswell. That is pretty much why I prefer this film than 300 even though I love both. The first two plots are really good aswell where a cop Hartigan has to protect a prostitute Nancy. Marv avenges the woman he loves. There are a lot of awesome and famous stars in this film. I cant wait to see the two sequels of this film.
What is there not to like?! Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen, and Bruce Willis are fantastic, the movie stays true to the graphic novel series, the black and white screen is refreshingly peculiar, and best of all actresses like Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Alexis Bledel, and Brittney Murphy grace the screen!!
I loved the black and white and cartoon style of it, I loved the stories in it, i loved some of the characters in it and i loved Jessica Alba in it. But then, I think if you haven't read the comics (which I haven't) it can all get very confusing
Seriously? I love that movie. Of course, the crowd of actors like Bruce Willis, Clive Owen and those + Rodriguez and Tarantino is a fly trap, but the real reason why I wanted to watch this movie is Josh Hartnett. And guess what? He got just the beginning and the end. What was that, 5-10 mins? Still, the movie is hilarious. Most of the lines are predictable, but, really, who would ever think of turning Elijah Wood into a psycho-Harry-Potter nerd-killer?
