Gooey mess that tried to turn Liberace into a screen star. The fact that he has zero screen presence and the charisma of a lemming should have been obvious from the first days rushes but they plowed ahead anyway. The film does have a few saving graces, high production values, a slick look, the wonderful Lurene Tuttle in a small role which she makes the most of and besides Liberace a talented cast doing what they can with a dumb script. Of course the music is wonderful but Liberace stripped of all his flash is a black sink hole at the center of the film from which it can't recover. The tap number at the end is a horror show all its own. A stinkeroo!
