  I can't wait for Martin McDonagh's next film! With only one short and one feature under his belt, he's still one of my favourite directors, or is at least one of the few I'm really eager to see more of. In Bruges was brilliant and Six Shooter deserved the Oscar! Dark comedy at its best!

  Oscar winner in 2006 for Best Short Film.<p> <i>Six Shooter</i> is a provocative Irish black comedy that illustrates the agony of dealing with death, and how death can come in many forms.<p>This short film was directed by the talented Martin McDonagh, who brought us <i>In Bruges</i>. <p>Brendan Gleeson (who also stars in <i>In Bruges</i>) is amazing here as a man who just lost his wife. In a chance encounter on a train, he sits with a fast-talking, wise-cracking, full-blown psychopathic Irish kid who verbally traumatizes a suffering adjoining couple who are coping with the loss of their newborn son. <p>A heart-wrenching and tragic film, sprinkled with dashes of comedy, and a fantastic shoot out at the conclusion, make this short film a must see.<p>You can buy this on Itunes for like $2, or download it some where. It's well worth your time.

  From the maker of 'In Bruges' (maybe the best film of this year?), his directorial debut, a black comedy short film of death. Death comes in various ways, suicide, natural, illness etc, affecting everyone involved in the story. It's pacing is perfect, there's always something going on. The motormouth telling his crappy stories or the persons living with their grief and wondering what will happen to them next. It's plain, it's simple and it works. It goes sometimes a way bit over the top but who cares? Provocative things just work for me! And finally a reminder. Martin McDonagh is a name every film enthusiast should remember, he already has a masterpiece (In Bruges) done. What next?

  Oh yes,yes,yes. If you liked IN BRUGES and just wanted a little bit more, find this 27 minute short by Martin McDonagh and no, its nothing to do with Bruges, and yes it does have Brendan Gleeson in it, and yes, its just as black and just as funny, and yes there's a bit of swearing too, and there a cracking ending and no I'm not going to spoil by saying any more, just track it down and ENJOY!

  I sought this out after seeing 'In Bruges'. Some pretty good bits, but you can see the director was just getting his feet wet.

  This is the weakest of the live action shorts nominated in 2005, although the young man's story about the cow is well worth the investment of 27 minutes.
