The problem is that Will Stronghold is starting with no superpowers of his own and, worst of all, instead of joining the ranks of the "Hero" class, he finds himself relegated to being a "Sidekick." Now he must somehow survive his freshman year while dealing with an overbearing gym coach, a bully with super speed and a dangerous rebel with a grudge (and the ability to shoot fire from his hands)…not to mention the usual angst, parental expectations and girl problems that accompany teenage life. But when an evil villain threatens his family, friends and the very sanctity of 'Sky High,' Will must use his newfound superpowers to save the day and prove himself a "Hero" worthy of the family tradition.

A fun high school movie, with the secret parties, uncool kid becoming cool, complicated dating etc. but with Super Heroes. That just makes it rocking. Aimed at a wide audience and so very family friendly, but it has enough references to previously existing super hero mythology to...( read more) appease comic fans. Great to see a lighthearted live action super hero world, expanded from just fighting evil/crime. The characters are brilliant and range from typical powers, such as strength and flight, to not so super but certainly special powers, glow in the dark and turning into a guinea pig. A great supporting cast such as Bruce Campbell, Kevin Heffernen and Lynda Carter fill out the ranks of some great young stars including the ridiculously pretty Mary Elizabeth Winstead. She's tops.

Obviously a great film for kids and teens. My son watched it 4 times this weekend for fear I'd never rent it again.

Okay, I liked it. I'll admit it. My little sister suckered me into watching it when nothing else was on the telly and it was much better than I thought it would be.

It all begins at a secret school in the clouds like none on earth: Sky High, the first and only high school for kids with super-human powers going through crime-fighting puberty. At Sky High, the student body throw flames with their footballs, study Villainy with their Chemistry ...( read more)and are divided into Heroes and Sidekicks instead of jocks and geeks. It's an out-of-this-world yet completely recognizable place where cool gadgetry, rampant bravery and awe-inspiring magical skills mix it up with parental battles, peer pressure and dating trouble--with explosively fun results. This year's class features some of the best, brightest and most powerfully gifted super-teens ever assembled. And then there's Will Stronghold. When you're the son of the world's most legendary super heroes, The Commander and Jetstream, people expect you to live up to the family name The problem is that Will is starting with no superpowers of his own and, worst of all, instead of joining the ranks of the Hero class, he finds himself relegated to being a Sidekick. This movie was a lot better than I could ever have expected, it had depth, romance, humour and oceans of excitement.
This one kept me hooked from start to finish and the acting was most certainly astonishing!

Kurt Loder, MTV

[A] pure, sweet pleasure ... It's fun. And given its baldly hybrid premise, that's pretty super in itself. full review

High schoolers (who are shown chugging only soda pop at a supposedly rowdy party) will rule this movie lame, though early grade-schoolers might bite. full review
