The FBI, sensing a chance to use this small-time con to bring down big-target Sparazza, places Aces into protective custody-under the supervision of two agents dispatched to Aces' Lake Tahoe hideout. When word of the price on Aces' head spreads into the community of ex-cons and cons-to-be, it entices bounty hunters, thugs-for-hire, smokin' hot vixens and double-crossing mobsters to join in the hunt.     It's one wildly entertaining and original thriller. Its an intense, hard-core, explosive, gritty, brutally shocking and a red-hot pshycho rollar-coaster ride. Smart, stylish, original, frequently funny and totally over the top. Filled with explosive action and mind-blowing suspen...( read more)se that will knock you out. An energetic bloodbath that just keeps getting better. A fantastic cast of first-rate talents. Jeremy Piven is electrifying. Ryan Reynolds is a pure knockout. Andy Garcia is teriffic. The cast is outstanding. Riveting and exhilerating. A pure guilty pleasure. An awsome adreniline-rush. It has surprising human effection. Director, Joe Carnahan has taken his style in directing to create a high-octane, barrels blazing classic with a rythem all of it's own. It thrives on chaos like Tony Scott's Domino or Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers.

    This film has genuine moments of greatness in it. Unfortunately It also has moments of crap in it. Half the cast are fantastic, the other half are not. Carnahan just gets away with a pretty good film!

    This battle of FBI, bounty hunters and professional killers for the life of an important witness is as wild and entertaining as it sounds and the trailer promises. The colliding characters are colorful, fun and interesting and the body count doesn't necessarily take the order one...( read more) would expect, considering some of the big names entering this contest. Fans of "Lost" should watch out for a very interesting pairing, for example. The fact that this movie doesn't care who is expected to make it out alive may be too much to stomach for some viewers but is actually part of the charm. It's everything but predictable and the action, while being comic-esque and over the top at times, kicks in pretty well. Although the movie doesn't take itself too seriously (but could have spared us the karate kid) the tone gets rather serious in the end and even gives us a nice little "Usual suspects" twist. Cool!

    Bon ... idées confuses. Tant de bons et de mauvais points! Début trop rapide. Trop d'informations pour très peu de temps. Manque peut-être un peu d'introduction au tout, mais tout début. On embarque directement dans l'histoire, il manque quelque chose.

    Chaque groupe a leur pers...( read more)onnalité, excellent. J'ai été déçu d'en voir une éliminée dès le début. Reste maintenant qu'à faire vos paris!

    Sinon, la fin est assez longue, bien détaillés, j'adore! Complètement inattendue. L'intrigue au beau milieu de fusils et de sang, Génial! Avoir eu plus d'introduction et un début plus long pour nous aider à mieux comprendre, ce film allait chercher une étoile de plus.

    Les 2 femmes sont canons, de vrai bombes. Le sniper, d'enfer. De la puissance, oufff.

    J'aurai aimé avoir la traduction française écrite dans la version DVD.

    P.S.: Lâchez la voix française de John Travolta. Laissez à John Travolta ce qui reviens à John Travolta. Merci!

    I thought this was boring. Had a great cast but I was falling asleep and was confused the whole time.

    Awesome movie.....fantastic cast.....hell-of-a story line....with an ultimate butt clincher......must see film of 2007......there was a showdown with attitude, persistance, shooting, explosions, and victims.

    Movies like this are, like I've said many times before, a dime a dozen but once in a great while you get a rare coin in the bunch of old dull ones, and Smokin' Aces is that rare coin. It's slick, stylish, brutal, funny at times, dark , witty and smart It's got the making of...( read more) a great action thriller and it's not afraid to show it.



    Smokin' Aces is a brash action film that is straight out of the mind of Qunetin Tarantino, sadly he's not directing, but that's okay because this film is kind of a homage to his work and will please any fan of Tarantino or fans of action films alike. But ti also has it's downsides. Smokin' Aces at some points in the film it relies to heavily on the action and that takes away from the good conspiracy story and air of mystery it has buried underneath it all. But all in all Smokin' Aces is an awesome thriller with spectacular action and a jaw dropping twist that you won't see coming.




    Jeremy Piven does great here as the man everybody wants to kill, Piven puts all his comedic and dramatic talent into the role of a strung out, douche bag magical who's at the ends. And he plays it better than anything I've seen him do before/ Ryan Reynolds is good as the rookie FBI agent assigned to protect Buddy Israel(Piven), he's got the smarts and the attitude to play the part and he pulls it off nicely but falls short in some places when he's needed the most. Ray liotta(Who I don't like much as an actor.) is not as good here as he was in John Q Or Identity but holds up well. The cast is great and they help move this film up past the regular actioneer standards.





    Smokin' Aces is just like the title suggest, this film is on fire and the fire won't die down till the bodies stop dropping credits roll. It's a good action thriller with high class qualities and enough action, jokes, style and plot twist to satisfy you, it may not be the most original action film but ti sure is different in it's own special way. All in all it's one hit you 'll want in on.
