    Awesome movie.....fantastic cast.....hell-of-a story line....with an ultimate butt clincher......must see film of 2007......there was a showdown with attitude, persistance, shooting, explosions, and victims.

    Movies like this are, like I've said many times before, a dime a dozen but once in a great while you get a rare coin in the bunch of old dull ones, and Smokin' Aces is that rare coin. It's slick, stylish, brutal, funny at times, dark , witty and smart It's got the making of...( read more) a great action thriller and it's not afraid to show it.



    Smokin' Aces is a brash action film that is straight out of the mind of Qunetin Tarantino, sadly he's not directing, but that's okay because this film is kind of a homage to his work and will please any fan of Tarantino or fans of action films alike. But ti also has it's downsides. Smokin' Aces at some points in the film it relies to heavily on the action and that takes away from the good conspiracy story and air of mystery it has buried underneath it all. But all in all Smokin' Aces is an awesome thriller with spectacular action and a jaw dropping twist that you won't see coming.




    Jeremy Piven does great here as the man everybody wants to kill, Piven puts all his comedic and dramatic talent into the role of a strung out, douche bag magical who's at the ends. And he plays it better than anything I've seen him do before/ Ryan Reynolds is good as the rookie FBI agent assigned to protect Buddy Israel(Piven), he's got the smarts and the attitude to play the part and he pulls it off nicely but falls short in some places when he's needed the most. Ray liotta(Who I don't like much as an actor.) is not as good here as he was in John Q Or Identity but holds up well. The cast is great and they help move this film up past the regular actioneer standards.





    Smokin' Aces is just like the title suggest, this film is on fire and the fire won't die down till the bodies stop dropping credits roll. It's a good action thriller with high class qualities and enough action, jokes, style and plot twist to satisfy you, it may not be the most original action film but ti sure is different in it's own special way. All in all it's one hit you 'll want in on.

    True Romance meets the cast of Oceans 11! I was very impressed with the amont of action and the way the story unfolded! I want to see more movies like this!

Director, Joe Carnahan has taken his style in directing to create a high-octane, barrels blazing classic with a rythem all of it's own. It thrives on chaos like Tony Scott's Domino or Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers.

    Could have been at least an average action flic, but the part I really didn't like was what part of the FBI handbook says if you're being shot at by a sniper from an unknown location, you randomly shoot out the window? Of course there were other unrealistic parts, but the others ...( read more)I could accept as part of maintaining the action in the movie.... Blindly shooting out the window was just idiotic. The ending was also uninspiring. It seems rather idiotic to have an unstable FBI agent alone in the hospital room with those at least indirectly responsible for what happened to his partner.

The soundtrack is suitbale, the characters are stereotyped but this works thnaks to the scale of the piece and...( read more) variation of the characters present. The action is exciting and the comedic elements enjoyable also.The casting is terrific and the film does not dissapoint , forget tarrantino this is what indie film is about. See this film before you die !

    aside from jason bateman's funny bit, this film is flimsy and full of shit. It's as if the writer decided to knock out a Pulp Fiction type movie in an afternoon.

    The story is just stupidly complicated: on the head of an Las Vegas entertainer, Buddy Israel ( Jeremy Piven) is put a reward by the Mafia. The rest of the movie is about how a l...( read more)arge number of hit men tries to kill him and how the police tries to prevent them from doing so.
    The end is just idiotic, there a twist which left me cold, the acting is just funny because is that bad, Jeremy Piven is O.K., and Ryan Reynolds just tries to hard to show the world he can act, well, I wasn't impress.

    Cool! I really liked this movie! one man being hunted by many Bounty hunter. in this movie too much happening betrayal. very nice to watch this movie and makes the story in this movie as a valuable lesson. GREAT!

    Smokin Aces Pictures, Images and Photos

    Smokn' Aces features an all star cast in this action/crime/drama/thriller about assassins who are hired by a mom boss named Sparazza to put a hit on a magician named Buddy "Ace" Israel (Jeremy Piven). Israel gets taken into protective custody where's he's being held in a hotel penthouse. In the mean time, two FBI Agents (Ray Liota) & (Ryan Reynolds) rush to get to Ace before the hitmen do. When everyone collide's at the hotel, they start rounding up amonition to go at it in a showdown where anyone will be lucky enough to survive.

    Smokin' Aces is one of the most entertaining crime movie's I've ever seen. I wasnt expecting the story that I got but It was very interesting nonetheless. I thought the story took a while to get anywhere but I understood that everything had to be set up by getting to know the characters & such. Even though moved slow, the plot kept me engaged & interested to see what would happen next. When the action takes place its a brutal, gritty & bloody mess. This film also comes off with alot of comedy that made me laugh. I thought the cast was exceptional with their character.

    The one I was very suprised from alicia keys. Alicia played a great bad*** sexy assassin, Geogia Skyes. Alicia kicked butt against everyone. I really didn't like the fact that she played a lesbian because I could never see her that way especially the way she was acting towards her girlfriend. I think Alicia needs to star in more movies like this one. Alicia made it really fun to watch. She also is very hot. I just loved her in this. Hope to see more of her. I think she needs to have two careers instead of one.

    The second actor who took me by surprise was Ryan Reynolds. Man, he knows how to carry a role. Ryan really showed me how good of an actor he really is by using emotion. Ryan did what he had to do with his part & he succeeded them. Ryan has come along ways to a ok actor to one of the greatest in my book. Hope he keeps it up because I think he's going to be big one of these days.

    Jeremy Piven is one of those next. I remember seeing him in comedies & never once thought that he would pull off something like this. All I have to say is well done. Jeremy really entertained me by watching him act in this. He did a great job with his character showing off his majacian skills & putting off some emotional moments. Jeremy can actually act & didn't think it was possibl;e till he took this role. As far as I can see, Jeremy can pretty much play any character he wants. Can't wait to see what serious role he takes on next.

    I thought the tremor brothers played by Chris Pine & Kevin Durand were psychotic. I tell ya, once their mind is on something they go for it. Their as mean as it gets when it comes to assasinations. They think of the most brutal ways to kill someone like their chainsaws & machete's. I really enjoyed watching them on screen. Their one of the reasons why this movie was entertaining.

    When you watch this movie, just remember its not an all out action movie. It's an crime/drama filled with suspensful moments with some action involving brutal bloody violence thrown in. So if thats not your cup of tea then stay away. Overall, Smokin' Aces is a very cool entertaining hitman movie with alot of twists & turns.

    This film has genuine moments of greatness in it. Unfortunately It also has moments of crap in it. Half the cast are fantastic, the other half are not. Carnahan just gets away with a pretty good film!

    More like Smokin' Poles. It's obvious to me that the director wanted Pulp Fiction but ended up with 2 Days in the Valley. The ending was so off tone I thought I was watching another movie.

    In theory, a good movie could have been made here. Ultimately it shamelessly "samples" what works for Tarintino but doesn't have the substance to hold it up. It fumbles from the beginning, and by the end of the movie I couldn't have cared what happened at all....( read more) I can see that the makers wanted to have a solid mix of comedy, action and wrap it up with a smart plot topped off with a twist. A movie with depth can pull of what Smokin' Aces tries, but it's just far too shallow.

    A frustrating film to watch.

    This battle of FBI, bounty hunters and professional killers for the life of an important witness is as wild and entertaining as it sounds and the trailer promises. The colliding characters are colorful, fun and interesting and the body count doesn't necessarily take the order one...( read more) would expect, considering some of the big names entering this contest. Fans of "Lost" should watch out for a very interesting pairing, for example. The fact that this movie doesn't care who is expected to make it out alive may be too much to stomach for some viewers but is actually part of the charm. It's everything but predictable and the action, while being comic-esque and over the top at times, kicks in pretty well. Although the movie doesn't take itself too seriously (but could have spared us the karate kid) the tone gets rather serious in the end and even gives us a nice little "Usual suspects" twist. Cool!

    This movie is one of my favorites!! Has so many talented actor's/actresses that it keeps you on the edge every new scene. I love the faces, the music and the way the story is set out. Suspenseful and entertaining. A must see!

    Pretty entertaining movie about how different groups of criminals and professional assasins cross paths when they all aim for the same target. Even if you were blinded or in a rage, you just wouldn`t have done it. And Andy Garcia would never have left the room too.

    I quite liked the nice brother from the crazy trio though. Cute character detail.

    A convoluted plot that doesn't make too much sense. When you do make sense of it, it kind of seems dumb. I found myself not caring about the story about halfway through. At least the fight scenes were cool.
