Dean Jones, Dick Van Patten, George Lindsey

When New York accountant Johnny Baxter (Dean Jones) learns he has inherited a Colorado hotel, he promptly quits his thankless job, packs up his dubious family, and heads west. Since this is a Disney c...( read more  read more... )omedy, the inn's only customers turn out to be nonpaying raccoons and its decorating motif is strictly cobweb. To make matters worse, the local banker not only refuses Baxter a loan, but tries to buy out the desperate newcomer with a lowball figure. But with the help of an eccentric squatter (M*A*S*H's Harry Morgan), a local snowmobile dude, and an avalanche, the city slickers eventually prevail. Jones' slapstick style is showcased in ski and snowmobile scenes featuring vintage 1972 special effects that are nevertheless hysterical to kids. With a G rating, this is safe, relatively entertaining family fare. (Ages 5 and older) --Kimberly Heinrichs

One of my all time favorite of the Disney live-action. Reminds me of my childhood and going to see a different Disney matinee every Sat afternoon at the old Fox Theater

You can enjoy it, only if you're a kiddy though. Or if you just generally enjoy a heart-warming icy movie. Funny, but toilet humour.

I love Dean Jones (first childhood crush), otherwise I might have overlooked this movie. It is typical Disney family movie fare, but whoever said that was a bad thing? There are some funny moments -mostly featuring Harry Morgan's eccentric old bell-hop - and Dean Jones could make...( read more) any slapstick watchable.

A total Cliché 1970's American family comedy. Does exactly what it says on the tin!
Story about an American father who follows his dreams of opening a Hotel in Colerado... oooh with hilarious consequences of him skiing-falling down a mountain many-a-time. And of course there is a...( read more) nasty banker determined not to let it happen.
Everything is resolved in the last five minutes! Great. Not bad for your typically dated Sunday afternoon movie. Think Money-Pit for kids... with snow.... oh how far we have come in terms of cinema!
The man's called Johnny, his wife is blonde and yet they have a Ginger curly haired son. Oh ho ho, those Americans.
