Critic Reviews

  • Variety Staff, Variety

A cross-cultural teen sex farce with some good moments, Some Girls hinges on the deadpan comic timing of Patrick Dempsey.

  • , Time Out

To its credit, the film is well cast and boasts imaginative production design, but is neither particularly funny nor emotionally credible.

  • Rita Kempley, Washington Post

The rest of the cast, like the D'Arc mansion itself, has problems with electricity. There isn't any.

  • Chris Hicks, Deseret News, Salt Lake City

There are some sweet moments and several very funny scenes, mostly of the door-slamming, mistaken identity variety.

  • , TV Guide's Movie Guide

The film remains highly entertaining through all its baroque turns of events, and the performances are fine.

What the hell is the point of this movie!?? It's rediculous and BORING! I didn't even care why the family was so crazy.

  • Erin C

Dempsey was funny, and it actually wasn't a bad movie. It had a sweet story.
