It's still great cheesy fun, but honestly it gets so god damn boring because Godzilla's son is a grade A pansy.
Same old tired radioactive monster gig, but this time its a baby monsters!!! (dun dun dun...) A Team of scientist cause a radioactive storm on a remote island, leaving giant bugs to roam and rule the land. Son of Godzilla is hatched and havoc ensues. Comparing monsters to monsters, this movie is blah, nothing more.
This ios not my favorite, but it is still wort seeing. Godzilla is a father. The little one is way to cute. No cities are destroyed. It has a lot of humor.
Yeah, I know everyone hates this one, but I'm an individual who stands outside the crowd. A loner. A rebel. And isn't Minya just adorable?
As a kid, I loved these old movies when they played on Monster Matinee. This one was my favorite of the Godzilla features.
Goro Maki: [Godzilla and Minya are close by] Riko, I think they spotted us.
Riko Matsumiya: No, it appears to be teaching its son.
Goro Maki: Teaching its son?
[Riko nods]
Goro Maki: It's teaching its son all right. And, he's teaching its son just like people teaching its children, just like a papa.
Riko Matsumiya: Well, it is a papa, isn't it?
Goro Maki: Well sure, but I wouldn't want one like that.
Riko Matsumiya: Nor I, everything's relative I guess.
Goro Maki: You're right.
I can honestly say that now, I have seen a kid dance with a baby dinosaur or whatever "Godzilla's son" is.
So, like most Japanese monster movies it makes me think, "What the F*CK am I watching?" But in the same respects, those movies seem to hold me. The little guy is cute...a bit reminiscent of "Son of Kong". With both of these movies...really not the best films made. Fun in their own "I hope that cute little guy kills big monster things" way? Definitely!
WOW. Well, it should be said that Godzilla films appeal to a different audience, but this one surprises even me. It was made during a time that all of Japan was Godzilla crazy, and I guess they thought that everyone would love seeing Godzilla in the "protective father" role. Did I even mention that the monsters talk in this one? Yeah, I know. It's hard to swallow, but if you find yourself on a quest to see every Godzilla film, then this is one hurdle you'll have to go over.
All together now: WAAAAA-GWWAAA! Minilla would become an embarassment, to be sure, but damn it all if the little bastard isn't cute here. And the story never stops for a moment, with an entertaining menagerie of monsters. One of the weaker G-suits though.
The Godzilla face is horrible, whoever designed it should be shot! Apart from that, the film is still a good one to watch, and designed for families.
