Souls at Sea
Much of the action in this high-seas adventure is set aboard a slaving boat and centers upon its first mate (Gary Cooper), a young man who secretly supports the abolition of slavery. A failed mutiny in which the captain is killed leaves the first mate in charge of the vessel. His first act as captain is to free the slaves. Later a British navy ship sails up and the first mate allows them to board. As a result the mate and his pal (George Raft) are arrested and tried in Liverpool for mutiny.
