South of the Rio Grande
South of the Rio Grande contains more plot than usual for a Buck Jones western, but that's hardly a reason not to watch. Jones is cast as a Mexican Army captain, on the trail of villainous Philo McCullough and his beautiful confederate Mona Maris. Maris delivers the film's best performance, though she's given a run for her money by Paul Fix, cast as Jones' spineless younger brother. To keep production costs low, Columbia lifted several action highlights from the previous Buck Jones vehicle Men Without Law. One of the better Jones films of the period, South of the Rio Grande… More
