Exceptionally average animated lark which really presents nothing special or even interesting. An amusing premise and quirky chimps are a nice starter, but aside from that, nothing much happens. It even gets quite boring at times. The wall of disinterested people on my friends li...( read more)st seems to portray the films values quite well. I guess I have friends with taste. Avoid this one above all other animation.

"We got three chimps strapped into a $3.7 billion spaceship, what could go wrong?"

When a space probe thought lost reappears in a previously uncharted area of outer space, NASA scientists set about planning a mission to recover their equipment. However, due to concerns ove...( read more)r sending astronauts through a wormhole, the decision is made to send a group of trained chimps instead. In an effort to increase interest in the mission, a seedy senator decides that the public needs a hero they can connect with and insists upon the inclusion of Ham III, the grandson of the first monkey in space. The only problem is Ham III currently works in the circus, being fired out of a cannon night after night. One crash course in being an astronaut later, Ham III joins trained chimps Luna and Titan on their recovery mission. Samberg's wiseacre charms to moderate use, overextending the comedian with instruction to fill every silence in the film with a quip, Daniels as the dim-witted heavy, strangling his squeaky voice to a charming degree, and fun in a small role as a tiny, incandescent alien aid to the chimps is Kristin Chenoweth, who was born for voicework and gives the picture a proper spark right when it needs it the most. Space Chimps is so uninspired. It consistently goes for the cheap laughs, mining way too many jokes out of puns, pratfalls, and the occasional reference to poop.

Had some funny moments, but was nothing special, I loved the cute little glowing creature, she was so cute.

Chimps in space is a great idea for ananimated film. Chimps are just funny and a space setting should have contained enough excuses for bizarre and far out situations. Unfortunately Space Chimps is simply a poorly animated film with not enough content, story or laugh wise, to mak...( read more)e it worth your time. There isn't even a single stand out character to keep you interested in a very mediocre plot which involves some aliens that all look the same, presumably because of a lack of imagination and budget. The voice talents are wellsuited but fail to bring life to stone dead facial features. It isn't terrible but with the likes of Wall-E and the works of Miyazaki propelling the animated genre into a new and more sophisticated domain this is simply a forgettable entry.

Quite boring and routine. Even the animation was uninspired.

I expected this to suck but like Chicken Little it suprised the hell out of me. As always Patrick Warburton proves to be a mark or quality. First half isn't so good, but the second improves on it. Couple of good geeky refrences in there and it's just fun really. Oh and it fini...( read more)shes with a Barenaked Ladies track which is nice

Meh, the only reason I watched this was because Andy Samberg is the voice of Ham III. The story needed a lot of work, but the actors and the animation get you through it.

I was really looking forward seeing this movie but sadly I was very disappointed. The story is about some chimps being trained as austronauts and they get the opportunity to go to space. I thought the story lacked information and excitement and there clearly are a lot of talented...( read more) animators who wasted their time making this movie.
