Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"A muddled science fiction tale."
‑ Variety Staff, Variety
"With a bigger dose of originality, Spacehunter could have become a popular, enduring sci-fi adventure."
‑ , TV Guide's Movie Guide
"Ages like good cheese"
‑ Karina Montgomery, Cinerina
"What could have been a sci-fi horror classic is instead just a better-than-average children's adventure story."
‑ Don Peretta, Time Out
"At least nobody will have to stand in line to see this film now that the third Star Wars has opened: Spacehunter is not nearly as good as Return of the Jedi, and it's clearly intended for the same audience."
‑ , People Magazine
"It attempts so much that it will probably remind you of at least a dozen other pirate, gladiator, horror and science-fiction stories, because its own plot is none too distinctive and is seriously overcrowded."
‑ Janet Maslin, New York Times
"The producers in their infinite wisdom decided to release it five days before the single most anticipated science fiction epic of all time."
‑ Rob Vaux, Mania.com
