One of my favorate comic books and characters come to life on screen. The CG's in this movie are amazing beyond the mind! Full of so much action and one liners from the villinas clown, played by John Leguizamo.
Ouh, wouldn't to be cool if Spawn became a FX laiden movie? Not in this case. Ooh, but it has a butt-kicking dude in a mask and he fights crime, but he's a demon. Ooh! No. Still dumb as dirt. Hellboy is way better, based on the same idea.
I hated this movie so much! It was so wrong on so many levels and it just didn't do the original comic book the slightest bit of justice. Up to know, I'm still hoping that they would make a remake of this film and finally do it properly.
he is one of satans warriors, a cool and stylish film. If u are a fan of the comics you should like this. BUT... it aged pretty bad compared to todays cgi
This could of been a lot better. I wanted it to be really like spawn. But it seemed to be cut down. The comic book was over the top and this movie was screwed by Hollywood.
If you watch this film, you will either love it or hate it. Admittedly the SFX now pail in comparison to modern day movies, but it is still a good slice of action from the early 90s. I liked the whole gothic angle of the movie and the undeniable coolness of Spawn, and Todd Macfarlane is an absolute genius in creating likeable yet strangely evil heroes. The special effects were stunning at the time, and most of it even holds up to today?s standards albeit some clearly poor moments. However, this film could have been an absolute stunner if it had been given an even bigger budget than it already had. As it says in the film- the decision has been made, for now.
Not good. Cheesy effects and a dissappointing look of the demonic underworld. With a bigger budget and a more talented mind we could have received a more satisfying and faithful adaptation to this dark comic.
Waited almost a year for this movie and when i finaly saw it I could't believe how crappy it was. Apart from being hollow it looked like it was made of plastic.
Really awesome! I loved the whole thing. Storyline, effects, acting, all of it. That may just be because i haven't read the comics, but i still think it was great.
Al Simmons (Michael Jai White) is one of the top operatives for Jason Wynn (Martin Sheen), who is the head of an organization called A6. When Simmons becomes aware that A6 might be a little shady, he learns the hard way that he isn't allowed to quit A6. This leads to his transformation into Spawn, a superhero with a background and motivations that are just as morally ambiguous as A6. The film largely concerns Spawn discovering and exploring his new identity, while working to uncover a nefarious plot and attain revenge. John Leguizamo as the clown was unforgettable. He was funny, crude, nasty, and awesome. He made the movie.
I am big on the Todd Mcfarlane created character Spawn but this movie kinda ruined it for me. Spawn was a very dark comic book character that had a very dark tone to the person he was but the movie didn't capture that at all. This film more or less was aimed at younger audiences. I do not know why but it just bugged me.
The settings all changed and alot of things were rearranged for this movie adaptation. It had Clown,Violator and Malebogia but they weren't written that well. The visual effects for it's time were good and the action sequences were entertaining too.
Spawns costume was also neat looking as well but it just didn't work for me storywise. Micheal Jai White as Spawn wasn't a good casting call as so was John Lugiziamo who did Clown. Some better talent could've been found besides them 2.
Spawn is an awsome comic character but his transition to this film kinda did ruin the character he once was throughout the comics. This film is alrite but if you were a fan of Spawn you would be pretty disappointed with this film.
I have traumatic memories of this movie. We went to see it in the summer because it was hot in Ewa Beach in a house with no AC...and the theater's AC was BROKEN! So we're watching this flick about something coming back from hell and it's hot...like hell. I don't even know if the movie was bad, I just know it wasn't good enough to ignore the discomfort of being in an un-air conditioned movie theater in Hawaii in the summer, therefore I decree that the movie sucks.
