An innovation from Wachowski Brothers. Not a fan, but a good way to start the summer. I definitely can't say, 'let's forget about the ridiculously way speaking to the car', cause that really bothers me off. Somehow, i feel like Wachowski Brothers took risk in this kind of working, cause it may gain skeptisism in some of people, including me. Anyway, this movie made me feel optimistic about this summer battle.

MCT:May 13, 2008ok, if i reviewed Iron Man to be one of few movies that rendered me speechless after watching it, Speed Racer is one of a few that rendered me saying "anjing, keren!" (comparable to "sick!" or "rad!" or whathaveyous for non indonesians) over and over and over and over and over (i would go on, but i think you all get the idea) this is the ideal movie for a night out with your friends! go watch it with the guys! definitely not for the older folks.
there's no other way to adapt the cartoon into live action. go speed racer go! -

The film plays like a terrorist attack on Lucky the Leprechaun, causing colors to skyrocket at the unassuming faces of little children worldwide. If you can stomach the intensity of the colors and the visual loudness, this is actually an entertaining film. The Wachowski's skill at editing fight scenes translates well to races, and they are of course the highlight. The interspersed family scenes aren't as engaging as the races, but they contain enough humor and drama to keep the viewer occupied. Doubtful if it will make any top 10 lists, but certainly worth the price of admission.
(Note: I saw this on IMAX, so a general theatre might not be as visually intense) -

The Wachowski brothers have created the closest living example of Japanese animation in live action. It felt like you were a little kid watching a Saturday morning Japanese cartoon, and I loved it. Everyone fit into character so well, though I wish they would have had some more roundness to character and more scenes between Racer X and Speed. Regardless, this kept my 6 year-old brother with ADHD occupied, and that's saying something! Total worth to see if you are a fan of anime or child at heart.

MCT:May 13, 2008An awesome kid's movie. Fun and infectious, Speed Racer stays true to the source. What is more amazing is that the two sidekicks; a kid and a monkey, were not annoying. That is an accomplishment in itself.

This movie was a great movie. It was even better in IMAX. I would love to see another, but I'd much rather see the W. bros to move on to something else, maybe say . . . Voltron?!?!

This looks TERRIBLE!!! The trailer is laughably bad with lots of dodgy CGI and cliche lines from characters.

I'm... curious. I was no fan of the show, and the Wachowskis let me down on those Matrix sequels, and yet, still... I'm curious.
