SPOILERS- SPOILERS- SPOILERS- SPOILERS
The disdain, Sam Raimi, had for venom was obvious. From the contrived arrival of the meteor, to the objective 'evil suit' Peter puts on, wthe black one he put's on when he's feeling a little low. The amount of time he had in this film, to even Venom's role in Spider-man's near defeat; the small, wirey, almost precoscious venom holding Spider-man down, while the humongous Sand-man pummels him. To even the end, when Venom is disposed with by some metal bars and a grenade.
In comparison. Sandman, based on the sixties' comic book criminal (unlike Venom's eighties' origin's) is greatly expanded from his comic alter-ego. From his daughter suffering from 'plasticwire'upthenose'itus, to his greatly laboured, sympathetic backstory. To his "well-thought-out" transformation into Sandman(compare this to Venom's origin.) To his massive size in the end battle, dwarfing the inconsequential venom. On a final note, Sandman, give me a dream, has a better end.
