When a coveted position opens up at the famed Institute for Psychology, Manfred takes the advice of his girlfriend Therese - also a co-worker - and begins jockeying for position. But while Manfred isn't the most obvious choice for the job, he's willing to work overtime to get himself noticed and finally earn the respect he feels he is due. Just then, a smooth-talking psychologist named Poul joins the staff and jeopardizes Manfred's plans.
