"Spirited Away" is about a 10-year old girl's metaphysical(in my opinion) journey to the beauty and fantasy of the unknown. If one would watch this looking for a more than comprehensible plot, one will be disappointed, because for me, you will enjoy and ponder "Spirited Away" mor...( read more)e as an abstract piece of filmmaking. "Spirited Away" is a great animated film, but in some way, I prefer Isao Takahata's work to Miyazaki's.

Hayao Miyazaki has once again proven his genius in this absolutely enchanting masterpiece. There's few words to describe the majesty of this secret world with these strange character creatures and bizarre rules.

This is my favourite Miyazaki movie to date. We've never seen this type of film. It's very original just like other Miyazaki films. There are some outstanding visuals - i loved the character design. The spirits and creatures all looked sensational! The plot - WOW! It's sweet just...( read more) like other films by the director. There's a subtle charm to it and you just fall in love with that. It is a wee bit too long considering it is animation, but hey - I was having a great time for the whole 2 hours. The characters are all interesting, with the girl Chihiro and there were many more. The ending is sheer beauty and the strong use sinister shadows and other dark stuff works very well here. You'll be blown away by this spectacular film!

I'm not usually the sort of person to watch anime cartoons, but this one gave me a different perspective upon it altogether. This film impressed me, the story itself's not bad atall. So maybe it's not the best quality children's film ever, but the detail itself is a masterpiece.
