Great thriller about two CIA operatives. Nathan (Robert) trained Tom (Brad) to be a CIA agent but after a job in Beirut they parted ways. The movie starts with Tom being captured by the Chinese for espionage. Nathan is about the retire but does everything he can to save Tom.

Hugely surprised by this film, it?s not the usual type of film that?s associated with the likes of Brad Pitt and it?s possibly the first film, where I have enjoyed the performance of Robert Redford. This film is a fascinating spy Action Thriller, with a realistic angle (i.e. not...( read more) your James Bond/Bourne type of spy film), which I found compelling and very much enjoyed.

A stylish, intriguing, nail-bting and sensational thriller. A thinking man's spy movie. It's taunt, gripping, intelligent and exhilerating. Outstanding, breathtaking and explosive. These two great actors together just shined with their great chemistry. Awsome entertainment. A solid, energetic, sizzeling and exhilerating adventure. You'll be holding on to your seat every step of the way. Director, Tony Scott's best film to date. One wickedly cool movie. An emotional powerhouse. It hits all the right notes and some really cool unpredictable turns.

Smart and well though out. Really nothing negative to say about it.

Excellent thriller with new millennium A-list star Brad Pitt teaming with 70's A-lister Robert Redford (smartly cast in a 'Buddy picture' after Pitt took direction from Redford in his memorable yet under-appreciated "A River Runs Through it" from 1994) in an entertaining spy film...( read more) directed by action-obsessed Tony Scott which will have you at times on the edge of your seat. Scott rewards his action hungry audience in calculated doses as the picture is laced with lots of intrigue, and second guessing including a clever use of flashback sequences for additional suspense to this international thriller. Catherine McCormack is appealing as the love interest for Pitt's character which goes beyond obligatory since the joining of the two conflicts with his mentor's guidelines for espionage survival. The chemistry of all the players along with Scott's exciting action input make this an above average Pitt/Redford 'Buddy flick'.

Espionage thrillers have been a major staple in cinema since the 1930's onward and there place in film history has never been in question until the 90's rolled around and the genre took a major plunge into over the top antics choppy dialogue, bland acting and terrible p...( read more)lotting. But that all changed in the 00's when Tony Scott released his old schooled espionage thriller, "Spy Game".

"Spy Game " is highly charged, brilliantly paced, well plotted and exceptionally acted especially on Robert Redford's part. It's got game and it's got the hyper kinetic style of most Tony Scott films but what they lack this one has all the right parts. It has the deep rooted effect of making you believe that what your seeing is a true to life story and it plays out so well that by the time the story begins your in it till the end.

Robert Redford proves that even though he is old he's still got what it takes to smoke the younger generation Redford gives Pitt the one up and completely and utterly overshadows him in this film. Brad Pitt is not as good as Redford and is at sometimes just there so Redford can talk to someone, but there are some scenes in the film where Pitt does shine and is equal to Redford. The rest of the cast display amazing talent and skill in there parts and do great to back up there two leads.

Tony Scott's "Spy Game" may be too complex for some but for others it's a blast to watch the espionage genre get back it's old feel and style. It's got the right stuff to make it believable and the right moves to play the game. Now there's only one question left, will you be there to watch it all go down?

I thought the movie had very good acting, but its visual style and plot was just bland. Robert Redford and Brad Pitt worked really well together, but it doesn't make a film good. Tony Scott's effort was almost nonexistent, there was none of his great style present.
