A stylish, intriguing, nail-bting and sensational thriller. A thinking man's spy movie. It's taunt, gripping, intelligent and exhilerating. Outstanding, breathtaking and explosive. Smart, thrilling and endlessly enjoyable. Loaded with suspense, excitment and some well-crafted action sequences. Robert Redford is brilliant. Brad Pitt is riveting. These two great actors together just shined with their great chemistry. Awsome entertainment. A solid, energetic, sizzeling and exhilerating adventure. You'll be holding on to your seat every step of the way. Director, Tony Scott's best film to date. One wickedly cool movie. An emotional powerhouse. It hits all the right notes and some really cool unpredictable turns.
I liked the movie, but I saw it here wit abrupt stop and go in concert with the commercials for vodka and shield, I'll try another movie, but I can't recommend this site to a friend yet...
thought it was full of action..obviously it wasn't..it was quite slow..interesting..but i gues it fell short on my expectations.. i got one revelation from this movie though, they kinda look alike, can pass as father-son.. brad will probably resemble him a little when he's really older (or so i think)
Interesting, yet slow. Perhaps I was simply disappointed because I expected a more action filled thriller like Scott's "Enemy of the State" and instead got more of a character piece with too much talking and character backstory. If you're in the mood for that sort of thing it's probably quite excellent. However, when you're wanting a thrilling spy adventure you'll be disappointed.
One of my favourite action thrillers. Good pace, gripping, great soundtrack. At the beginning, the story of the movie is believeable and feels realistic (for a fictional movie of course). however, the end is questionable and does not make that much sense in my eyes - so at least half a star down bcz of the hollywood-esque ending.
Tony Scoot scores again with another of his usually thrilling and gripping political/action films that he does. Very good acting by Redford (how could he act bad?) and a solid, acceptableplot worth cheking out.
Just re-watched this bad boy tonight. Tony Scott's horrendous cinematography started to wear on me, but Pitt and Redford's performances make the movie what it is. Clever script.
Excellent taut thriller with new-millennium A-list star Brad Pitt teamed with 70's A-lister Robert Redford (smartly casted in a 'Buddy picture' after Pitt took direction from Redford in his memorable yet under-appreciated "A River Runs Through it" from 1994) in an entertaining spy film directed by action-obsessed Tony Scott which will have you at times on the edge of your seat. Scott rewards his action hungry audience in calculated doses as the picture is laced with lots of intrigue, and second guessing including a clever use of flashback sequences for additional suspense to this international thriller. Catherine McCormack is appealing as the love interest for Pitt's character which goes beyond obligatory since the joining of the two conflicts with his mentor's guidelines for espionage survival. The chemistry of all the players along with Scott's exciting action input make this an above average Pitt/Redford 'Buddy flick'.
I like this. When I go to the videostore, i found this dvd. But I never really want to buy it, because I thought that it won't be so good. Until one of the TV Channel in my country play this movie. It actually really goog. Plot full of twist, kind of like Bourne Trilogy, BUT WITH ROBERT REDFORD IN HERE.
Great thriller about two CIA operatives. Nathan (Robert) trained Tom (Brad) to be the best CIA agent but after a job in Beirut they parted ways. The movie starts with Tom being captured by the Chinese for espionage. Nathan is about the retire but does everything he can to save Tom.
Its a more realistic spy movie than say, I don't know, James Bond, but some parts are just far fetched and a little dull. Robert Redford is okay, he doesn't really seem anything special and Brad Pitt is intriguing enough with his character. Other than those too, I don't really remember anyone else. Its entertaining enough to be considered good, but honestly its nothing too special or new to be remembered.
I didn't know what the hell was going on. It doesn't help that I saw this in Japan and there were subtitles that didn't quite make sense. At least we could drink beer. Maybe that's why I was so confused.
a thriller that thrills you, shrills you and leaves you yearning for more. There is no moment that gives you away the movie. You will itch and you will nibble on anything that you can lay your hands on, but to the very last scene you just cant know what is to happen...
wen it finally ended my words were. "DAMMMMMMMMMIITTTT" [an expression i generally do not use]..
Redford is slyly classy and Brad Pitt was utterly to die for.
Overall a well-crafted, shot and carried out expedition!!
hats off to Tony Scott's efforts... B R A V O!
Spy Game is a good traditional action flick that tries to add thought to itself. Robert Redford as the soon to be retiring CIA agent is on form as always delivering a good solid if not unoriginal performance. Brad Pitt for the time he is on screen does whats needed but it does strick me sometimes that as an actor he is over rated.
