You are, and always will be, the best Star Trek film ever. Live long and prosper Star Trek 2!

An incredible outing since 'Star Trek - The Motionless Picture'. In the wonderfully campy original series, there was an episode called 'Space Seed' that introduced Kahn. This incredible features follows the path of revenge and brings us more campy dialogue, but an amazing story a...( read more)s well. Totally quotable and ultimately a bit tearjerking in the end. A brilliant piece of cinema that proves the small screen can go big and do an amazing job. The sequels are hit and miss, but 'Wrath of Kahn' nails all the right buttons.

Kirk: Khan, how do I know you'll keep your word?
Khan: Oh, I've given you no word to keep, Admiral. In my judgment, you simply have no alternative.

Ok, I've given Star Trek its chance and I still don't care. This movie is decent with its revenge plot involving Ricardo Montalban...( read more) mixing with the love triangle that is Kirk-Spock-McCoy. Brain slugs are disgusting, genesis is silly (with or without Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel), and Kirstie Alley hasn't exploded yet. James Horner's score works, but this is just a submarine movie in space, which I didn't much care to get into.

    McCoy: Where are we going?
    Kirk: Where they went.
    McCoy: Suppose they went *nowhere*?
Kirk: Then this will be your big chance to get away from it all.

KHAN!!!! Better than number 1, but still an over glorified episode of a cheesy tv show. Khan had some creepy boobs.

I've always held a special place in my heart and mind for this second installment in the "Star Trek" movie series. Mostly, because this is a movie that appeals to both places.

Not only is this movie loaded with the original characters from the series, it also touches on such s...( read more)ubjects as revenge, family, duty, age and, of course, sacrifice. That was the best thing about the series - that it touched on topics that were (pardon the expression) universal, no matter the species.

Everyone is uniformly fine right down the line, especially Montalban's Khan (returned from the "Space Seed" episode of the original series); all hatred, vengeance and single-minded of desire to see his enemy laid out before him. Namely, Kirk.

Alley is rather fetching as Saavik and it's a shame she wasn't carried over to the next film. I can't help but, seeing her on TV anymore, to expect her to raise an eyebrow in contemplation. Buttrick makes a complex character out of David, the son Kirk never knew he had. Hurt feelings and resentment meld somewhat explosively with a new-found father/son relationship.

And what can one say about Spock, Bones, Sulu, Chekov, Uhura and Scotty? They are characters some pivotal to the plot at hand or not, it's always good to see them.

For anyone who hasn't seen the movie, I won't discuss it in great detail. The story is simple enough (scientists find way to rejuvenate life on dead planets; Khan finds escape from prison planet, vows revenge on Kirk), but there is one plot point that will, if you are unfamiliar with it, blow you away. Suffice it to say, never has friendship been elocuted so well in this or any movie before or since.

Ten stars and a special Kobuyashi Maru simulation for "Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan".

    Running Time:112 minutes

While surveying a lifeless planet in the Ceti Alpha star system, Cmdr. Chekov and Capt. Review:
Since i watched the fantastic new Star Trek movie directed by J.J Abrams,i realized that series isn´t that bad after all.So i decided to watch the original series and i started with Star Trek 2:The Wrath of Khan, which is in everyone´s opinion, the best of all Star Trek original films. When i first watched The Wrath of Khan,i got the feeling that it was amazing, brilliant and fantastic. The Wrath of Khan is most powerfull of the saga because is very emotional and dark as welll but at the same time is really fun to watch.I did enjoyed the new one but this is The Empire Strikes Back of Star Trek.

I really enjoyed William Shatner´s fantastic and powerfull perfomance as Admiral James T.Kirk.Shatner makes us like Kirk because is so funny on dealing with his mildage crisis and very heroic as well.I gained respect for Shatner because he is the original Kirk and you got to respect the original.Leonard Nimoy is absolutely fantastic as Mr.Spock.Like i said before,Spock is my favorite character and i was sad because he dies in the end by saving the Enterprise.Spock´s death is the most powerfull scene of the movie and the sadest because is really hearbroken on watching Spock diyng.Ricardo Montalban will go down in history as one of the most charismatic villains of the series and of the history of cinema as Kirk´s most deadliest enemy,Khan.I really loved Khan because is a egomaniac baddie and also he is such a evil and menancing character.Khan dominates the movie from the beggining to the end, even when he is defeated,Khan is still evil. What a memorable role by Montalban(Rest in Peace).

Nicolas Meyer´s direction was fantastic and he shows what Star Trek is always meant to be.Along J J Abrams,he is the best director of the series, showing the true spirit of Gene Roddenbey s vision.

Star Trek 2:The Wrath of Khan is without doubt of my mind the greatest movie of the series and one of the best sequels ever made.Great masterpiece of science fiction.

Despite the rich links between sci-fi movies and their original progenitor, literature, sci-fi movies have only occasionaly undertaken the use of literature as an overt thematic source.

'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan' changes that.

Whether it's Khan's near incessant ref...( read more)erences to 'Moby Dick', or the Genesis device with its Biblical connotations, or the idea of sacrifice as suggested in Spock's 'A Tale of Two Cities' gift, the film has been clearly designed to be more than the usual wham-bam-slam typically associated with sci-fi. This isn't just a gimmick, as the literature's effects - inferred or otherwise - help to propel and define the characters, plot, setting and choices made in the movie.

    A great sci-fi film? Yes.

But overall it's simply a great film.

An expertly crafted space adventure. I got to say I'm partucularly fond of the set up. Chekoff runs into Khan from Space Seed searching for a planet with no life on it. When Khan discovers what they're there for and who he can get to (Kirk) he launches this huge revenge ploy agai...( read more)nst Admiral Kirk. Let the space battle commence. Rocardo Mantalban does evil very, very well. A perfect contrast to Shatner's nobility and cool headedness. Though, to be fair, Kirk looses it in a very memorable scene where Khan strands him in a cave and leaves him to die. Just thinking about this flick makes me smile.

As someone who has never been a huge fan of Star Trek I found the movie decent but I still prefer JJ Abrams vision. While this film carries a lot more weight and definitely has a better script than the new version, it lacks the energy and chemistry that the new one has.

The cast...( read more)ing was fairly decent. Ricardo Montalban did an excellent job as Khan though I have to say something about him reminds me a lot of the late and great Carradine. The only dead weight as far as casting went was Kirstie Alley. I've never been a big fan of anything she's done and this was no exception. I've read reviews that state she's ravishing and wonderful but I feel she lacked the strength to be such an integral part of the plot. Lenoard Nimoy will always be a great Spock and Quinto definitely gives him a run for his money. The only acting that I feel was done a lot better in the new version was Chris Pine as Kirk. I'm sure I will get torn a new you know what over saying that but I definitely think Pine makes a better Kirk than Shattner.

The ending to the film definitely made me sad and I feel it did the storyline justice as so few scenes of that nature seem to be able to pull off.

All said, I enjoyed the film a lot more than I thought I would but if I'm ever in the mood to watch a Star Trek film I'm definitely going to stick in the new one.
