Plot: This second group of episodes from the Emmy-winning "microseries" STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS combines dynamic, stylized animation with action-driven storylines as it explores new terrain in the already...( read more read more... ) vast Star Wars universe. Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, the mind behind innovative animated shows like SAMURAI JACK and THE POWERPUFF GIRLS, this series takes the viewer through the Clone Wars--largely an off-screen presence in the theatrical films--and right up to the beginning of the sixth film, EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH. Tartakovsky's take on George Lucas's world follows Anakin Skywalker through stormy adventures, galactic battles, and the secret ceremony that makes him an official Jedi knight. The story also introduces us to the evil General Grievous and takes us through the Jedis' attempts to beat back his surprise attack on Coruscant. With longer episodes and more character development than the first volume, this portion of the story provides additional information on Mace Windu and other more obscure Jedi knights whose histories are left to the viewer's imagination in the films. In addition, those who found the politics of the most recent film trilogy too convoluted to follow should be able to fill in the gaps after watching these stories. The collection also boasts many special features, including commentary from Tartakovsky and some of his animation artists, behind-the-scenes looks at the show's creative and animation processes, and video game trailers.

Does anyone know why George Lucas didn't make and release the movies properly, like in chronological order!?!

Pretty annoying. What was the point of making these things? The credits last longer than the episodes.

Volume Two of the Clone Wars series does deliver on the epic action that was a hallmark of Volume One, but the slower paced story elements and the constant changes between action sequences and Anakin's story ultimately lessen the impact these episodes have. There will be some dissapointment for "Clone Wars" fans, but the series is still better than what one usually finds on TV.

Season three, and the last before "Episode III" came out in cinemas on one DVD. The episodes are longer for this season and over all I think it is a step better than the first two seasons (Clone Wars Vol. One). It shows more of the relationship between Obi-Wan and Anakin and the whole kidnapping of Palpatine, and since "Clone Wars Vol. Two" ends right where "Episode III" starts it's great binding between this animated series and the live action movie. A must see for any real "Star Wars" fan.

If you haven't, see these mini-episodes. They're better than all of the prequels put together. There. I said it. (Again.)

All time favourite star war movie series. This espisode talks abt how the rebel got hold of an army tat was build in the past by someone tat was eventually used against the Droid empire.

If you're a Star Wars geek you'll be in heaven, but if you're not you obviously won't bother. Better than the first batch in the sense that the episodes are longer, but the Anakin plot with the vision quest or whatever was kind of lame but the battles were pretty neat. It's nice to see that the clone wars we've been hearing about since 77 didn't get completely passed over. My biggest complaint was the voices as I felt like I was watching Team America at points--especially whenever Anakin spoke.

Great sequel. This cartoon digs deep into the world of Star Wars, and shows us what it was like during the Clone War. Brilliant

This little animated series (being Vol. 1 & Vol. 2) is a lot better than the first 3 chapters of the Star Wars saga. Not being the biggest fan of the new trilogy, and this series falls right in between the second and third movie, I was pleasantly surprised. I was amazed at how using the new material of Star Wars, that it was just as exciting as the original trilogy. It captures the large scope of what one would believe the Star Wars universe to be like. I felt the same awe and amazement that I felt as a child.
Remembering Return of the Jedi, and the scene where we are placed into Jaba's palace, this was my crowning moment of the series. For me it was the sheer number of different creatures and characters that we were given. It was an extended Canteena scene (from the original, Star Wars: A New Hope). I wanted to get to know those characters more.
The connection that I'm trying to make here is that Clone Wars deliverers that same kind of childhood excitement. The focus isn't entirely around the main characters of the saga. We are given an array of secondary characters to meet, that we never get to experience in any of the movies. Imagine a different version of Star Wars where all of those unique and interesting creatures and characters that fill up the background of Jabba's Palace or the Canteena get their moment in front of the camera. A version that makes them just as important as Obi-won or Yoda. A Star Wars that brings a child's wish to life. To bad when it's all done you know the next chapter is Revenge of the Sith.

The fact that George Lucas had nothing to do with this only goes to show that his brilliant formula can be learned, and replicated effectively. This and its prequel sit proudly between AOTC and ROTS on my shelf.

this is what the movies should have been like. less talk, more action, more jedis being awesome instead of being ignorant tools.

A little longer than the first volume and hence a bit better, same action and effects played to the maximum, little exaggerated at times but entertaining.

Very well done cartoons that you should see in between Star wars Episode 2 & 3. They will just make more sense afterward.

George Lucas butchered the Star wars franchise by making the prequels to the origials so meaning the cartoon animated Clone Wars sucked ass and besides there a lot of contodictions in both volumes

This had some pretty captivating scenes with a cool voice-over cast. I liked Volume 1 better because it had more style and characteristics. This had some pretty good battle scenes and there's no doubt about that.

Unlike younger people who never experienced the earlier Str Wars movies (4,5 &6) I appreciate the background that these "first" 3 chapters give us -- I thought each of them carried the story line VERY WELL into the earlier chapters
