I have a lurking fear that this movie is going to be as absolutely horrid as it looks, but, it is Star Wars, so it can't be too terrible... right? ....
What can I say. I just like all things Jedi. Not as good as the movies. Lags a lil. Unfortunately Yoda didn't get off in this one. I don't think he did.
"Remember how people talked about the Star Wars prequels like they were the worst movies ever made, when really, come on, they weren't THAT bad? The Clone Wars actually IS that bad."
Except for the 'humans", everything looks kind of real and the special effects are good. The storyline is a bit thin. With this kind of animation, we won't need any more real actors and actresses in the future.
Three or four episodes of the soon to air TV show are brought to the big screen in order to make money from the Star Wars faithful. The plot of this arc has to do with the kidnapping of Jabba the Hutt's son as a means of getting him to side against the Jedi. Filled with lots of action sequences that seem overly busy, pointless and illogical the film sacrifices plot for motion to the point that one can't full understand whats going on. There are other problems from the opening narration, to the new student for Anakin Skywalker to the laughable dialog, to a plot that is so ludicrous as to be unbelievable.
With a very weak storyline and some very wooden dialogue it just didn't cut the mustard for me. Although I enjoyed the animation and the new characters, it was a very lazy effort from the writers, who failed to add any drama to the story.
hi, i'm george lucas. thrill as i defecate all over my once-great series! excuse me while my filipino houseboy finishes off the remaining santorum from my gaping nerdhole.
The animation is as nice as most of my favorite anime and the new charachers (Ahsoka Tano and Rotta) are cute. While I don't find any romantic situation in the story (which is okay since I'm not a very romantic person), there are funny ones especially when Rotta crawls under the furniture and Anakin pulls him out and the battle droids are quite dorky compared to TPM (I also like the quote "Outnumbered? One, two...") and CW is a great movie if you're a great Star Wars fan.
On the one hand, I am curious about it. On the other, I wish Lucas would stop messing around with Star Wars already and trying to fit more, diluting and making things worse.
Bello. Bello.
A thin plot, poor dialogue, and annoying main character lead to a bad movie that will lead you wondering when its over, even when its not even 2 hours.
i loved this flick. I hope they do more animation like this. The visuals were outstanding. And not having read the books, I enjoyed more story line from Star Wars.
I can't help but wonder if this is Star Wars the way George really wants it - you know, without those pesky actors to have to direct. I'd set my expectations fairly low on this one, after the relative disappointment of Episodes I-III and some poor reviews, but I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. There's a wafer thin plot spread across a series of well put together action set-pieces and it worked for me. I think I'm prepared to be more forgiving of things that stray into the ridiculous for animation than I was for the same sort of stuff in the live action prequels.
DISCLAIMER: I'm a huge Star Wars fan and currently majoring in Computer Animation so take my words with the same caution you'd take the words of a crack addict. I'll do my best to keep my Padawan, I mean, inner geek in check and write an objective review.
The premise is very simple; Jabba's son has been kidnapped and whoever brings him back will gain not only his favor but access to the trade routes in the Outer Rim. Both sides involved in the galactic conflict will get the upper card by gaining access to said routes so it's a matter of time before the little Hutt turns up.
But like Master Yoda says, the dark side of the Force clouds everything.
Directed by: Dave Filoni Starring: Matt Lanter, Ashley Eckstein, James Arnold Taylor, Dee Bradley Baker, Tom Kane
Genre: Action/Animation/Adventure/Sci Fi
Running time: 98 minutes
My review:
I was ever so disappointed and not surprised about this film because I had low expectations of this film because I think that story of this film is really weak for a Star Wars film. I was really disappointed that General Grievous wasnt in this film. The female villain didnt seem to be in this film as much as I thought she would be. A female Sith lord was never mentioned at all on any websites apart from the film of course. I think this film would have been better in live action with the proper actors but still really clever and funky animation that is in this film. Still would have been good if Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan), Natalie Portman (Padmé), Hayden Christensen (Anakin), Ian McDiarmid (Chancellor Palpatine) and Frank Oz (Yoda) all appeared in this film as their original role. The only normal voices from the prequel trilogy are Samuel L. Jackson (Mace Windu), Christopher Lee (Count Dooku) and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO). Padmé makes a very mild appearance in this film too which was disappointing to me. I expected her to be quite involved because of her being with Anakin on some scenes of the film just like Revenge Of The Sith and Attack Of The Clones. Padmé and Anakin are barely involved with each other at all in this film. I mean, Anakin Skywalker as a master?! When was that mentioned in episode 3? Anakin has never become a master. He said in episode 3 that he wants to be a master but isnt actually one yet. Nowhere near as good as the six live-action films but still enjoyable. I think this film was a big mistake to release at the cinema. This film doesnt have any of the characters original characteristics or parts of their personality particularly Anakin because he doesnt seem to have anger, fear and hate inside him and he doesnt seem to slowly turn to the dark side of the Force which he started to do in Attack Of The Clones and obviously completed in Revenge Of The Sith. I also thought that Anakin met Dooku only twice: once on Attack Of The Clones (Geonosis) and Revenge Of The Sith (ship during space war). Anakin said in Revenge Of The Sith My powers have doubled since the last time we met, Count. to Count Dooku. Anakin wasnt really very good when I fought Dooku at first but he became even more powerful when he gets more experienced with the Jedi powers and also part of the dark side too. That sort of annoyed be a bit about Dooku fighting Anakin three times. The famous opening pages when the name of the film and the writing about the film appears like in the 6 films. That doesnt appear in this film either which is a bit ridiculous. The music isnt as original as the other Star Wars films are. It would have been better if the music was the same. I would call this a good film but a spoof/rip-off of the Star Wars saga. As much as I love Star Wars and love George Lucas work in the Star Wars franchise, I regret saying this but I think that he should drop Star Wars films now because they are only going to get worst if he does more films. This film does have excellent sound and animated effects. I am unsure about this but I have a strong feeling in about 3 or 4 years time, I think there could be an animated Star Wars film between Revenge Of The Sith and A New Hope. Basically of how the Rebel Alliance formed and how the EMPIRE started to rise properly after we only saw about 5 minutes of it on Revenge Of The Sith. This film should have been out like direct-to-video so to speak like the other Star Wars: Clone War cartoons. This is the most kiddie film of all of the Star Wars films (even the original saga). I simply love Star Wars to bits. It is my favourite film series (tied with Lord Of The Rings) but I have to say that this film was a mistake. I know I have made negative points about it, it is a fun film for the family nothing more.
I was so tired I almost fell asleep watching this. :S I didn't like the portrayal of an energetic happy Anakin, but I guess that was how he was when he was young- the hero of the republic. Can't wait for more! :)
I really LIKED it, forget what everyone said, the only reason it's not even higher than I rated it was because I thought it should have tied alot more of the charcters together.
