Casper Van Dien, Clancy Brown, Denise Richards
Paul Verhoeven has fashioned a visually spectacular, morbidly funny comic book adventure that seems to merge the fresh-faced youths of the Archie Comics with the save-the-planet mandate of "Buck Roger...( read more

The link between ST and Total Recall is obvious and a long wait from Paul Verhoeven fans for this EPIC sci fi , slasher, horror. Good Blu-Ray also.

Good old Paul Verhoeven, back to what he does best. A great action parody (although no one told poor old Casper Van Dien)!

Brilliantly violent film with super sharp effects and lots of Verhoeven trademarks all over haha the black satire is thick and fast with news reels all over the film showering you in a communist lifestyle that all must obey and join up to gain citizenship and basic freedom really...( read more)

Overworked, self-aware schlock that still manages to knock it out of the park here and there. Those little news reels are the most interesting part of the movie; how far is Starship Troopers willing to take itself into parody, anyway? The lack of limitation is noble, but when not...( read more)

Una de mis favoritas. Puedo decir que la novela, que lei hace casi 20 aņos, esta mucho mejor. Pero tiene excelentes FX. Y por supuesto, la belleza de Denise Richards... mamaciiiiita!!!

This movie has unconvincing acting, paper thin plot, over the top violence, and amazing alien designs. I LOVED IT! Its the ultimate high quality B-Movie.
The acting is thin on purpose, the characters are supposed to be juvenile, its a coming of age, military movie. I love all th...( read more) -

I am a fan of the work of Robert Heinlein, also at the same time I am a fan of the satirical nature of Paul Verhoeven's visions of the future. Much like in his earlier film "Robocop" the future is depicted as a hypocritical, dystopian, and a dictatorial one. I, at the time that ...( read more)
Critic Reviews
Lacking the sophistication of the average comic book, it compensates with panoramic attack sequences, reminiscent of the Japanese swarm attacks in American war movies. full review
The action sequences are heavily laden with special effects, but curiously joyless. full review
Manages to be both fun and shocking -- sometimes in the same shot. full review

August 9, 2007Yes. It lacks the "On the bounce!" of the Captroopers and rather than having them as small, well armed hit-and-run walking tanks, they're cannon fodder with pissy little assault rifles that bearly phase the arachnids.
Also nearly all of the political ideas Heinlein suggested were ridiculed in a rather disrespectful fashion (though some could argue that's not entirely unjustified :P) -
August 4, 2007this is THE BEST sci-fi horror ever made...somewhat strayed from the book but nonetheless the most awesomest flick ever...this is one of those that you should watch at least once a month...Dizzy rocked

July 13, 2007It's based on a book?
it thought it was loosely based on the game Starcraft but they couldn,t get the rights or whatever -
April 17, 2007Ya I wish they followed the book little more closely too that said the movie definitly went off on a tangent but still without the jump packs you just can't call them the mobile infantry.
"you stand and you fight or I'll shoot you myself. You get me!" -
April 6, 2007The original book is quite a good read, but i wish this movie followed the book a little closer.
I would have liked to have seen the Egg drop pods and the power armour suits. -
April 4, 2007I've never read the book, but this movie is awesome. "C'mon you apes! You wanna live forever?!"
