Chase Collins: They just hatin' on you cause you dope.

Finally, almost two years later, Step Up 2 finally made it to the top of my Netflix que. The hilarity that me and my former roommate experienced from the trailer alone was about to be expanded upon. I managed to find a jok...( read more)e audio commentary from one of the podcasts I listen to, so I watched this film, with my Ipod synched up with the commentary. All this being said, myself, along with the guys joking around on the commentary actually agree that there are redeeming qualities to be found in this film.

Despite having a clichéd and poorly acted story, the main element of the film works - The Dancing. Scenes are choreographed well, with long, wide shots, opposed to fancy cutting and incomprehensible editing. It showcases the talents of the performers fairly well. Add to that a pretty decent hip-hop dance soundtrack and a lot of eye candy scattered throughout, and this is certainly a film that I wouldn't have minded too terribly if I were dragged to it on a date, without the comfort of a jokey audio commentary.

Moose: Yeah, we're her crew! We're getting ready to battle at the streets.
    Felicia: What street? Sesame Street?

A little cheesy, but fun to watch all the dance moves.

Oh the things you will consider watching when you are bored!
OK...Admittedly I did kind of get a kick out of the first Step Up. I like dance movies, but every single one is the same old story. If you've seen Step Up, Stomp The Yard, Center Stage, Breakin', or Save The Last Dance...( read more) you have seen this film. It wasn't original or attention grabbing at all. Same Hollywood crap, different day.
Step Up 2 gets half a star because some of the dance moves in the film were pretty cool, and half a star because Briana Evigan is really pretty. But as for an entertaining story or good acting, this movie had none.

    Not impressed....

If you think for one minute that I chose to watch this crap on my own accord then I will punch you square in the jaw.

I went to a lady friend's house to chill and have some drinks... I get there and this crap was on. I should've just left....

The only messag...( read more)e I got from this movie is the reassurance that black people have rhythm.

This is by far the best Step Up film so far, and ever will be. In my opinion anyway. Robert Hoffman and Briana Evigan were perfectly cast as Chase and Andie. The dances were so much better than the first film, more entertaining, more energetic and more AMAZING!!! The best dance o...( read more)f the whole film is the final dance at the very end, where they dance in the rain. That dance is so freaking good and so AMAZING! I love it!!!

    My Actor/Actress review:

Robert Hoffman - a great dancer and an equally great actor

Briana Evigan - first film i ever saw her in and just like Robert she can really dance

Adam G. Sevani - loved him as Moose as he was really funny and could really move!

Cassie Ventura - bitchy, didn't like her till the end of the movie when she became nicer

Will Kemp - a little stuck up (character wise) but ok

Telisha Shaw - funny and entertaining
