Plot: A group of people with psychic powers are invited to spend the night in a haunted house.
LOVED IT!!!!!!!! STEVEN KING KICKS ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<3333333333333333333333333333
They made the mistake of putting this on TV for a couple of nights and of course I got distracted and missed alot of it. Hopefully, one day I get to see ALL of it.
Bleqh! This movie suffers from the same thing that Titanic & The Shining remake suffer from. Tho it is actually quite a bit better than either of those two movies. This movie does have good acting, good directing, all of that all around, but it just doesn't stand up!
It's like 5 hours long! The movie is not good enough to justify the sheer length of the film, so it does, for that reason alone, suck!
tis was crap..... i seen it years ago and when i quite didnt understand what was going on but when i seen it again i still thought that it was crap.
Holy Shiz factor five. You know that saying when the crap hits the fan? Nay, when the Rose Red hits the fan. Stephen King, "Master of Horror" really screwed the pooch on this particular production. Not only was I morally and logically offended, but I was left with no feelings of entertainment or any type of horror, excluding my feelings of discontent and disbelief that any merciful god in heaven could ever let such a horrible film be released.
He can aid Moses in parting the Red Sea, but cannot in someway hinder and/or destroy all those involved with and the film itself. This film, if it can be called that centers around the story of a grouchy old professor and a small 15 year old autistic girl who has the ability to end the lives of those who cross her.
What I actually Have come to suspect, is that the film, was actually MADE by a small 15 YEAR OLD AUTISTIC GIRL, named Craig Baxtley.
I believe that the AFI should completely and totally restrict this movie from ever seeing the light of day again. No movie with three unending hours of static shots, can be classified as a horror. Maybe a documentary on how to kill a baby hamster, but not horror.
Incredibele fright and haunting story that Stephen King ever created. While the basic plot structure echoes Shirley Jackson's Haunting of Hill House, this film stands as an homage to that earlier work and serves as a far superior remake than the 1999's The Haunting.
Starts out excellent with a lot of promise and the rising tension is intriguing, but it begins to derail towards the very end (about the last fifth of the film). It's still a good story and the characters remain as interesting as ever. I recommend seeing it.
Seen it and would LOVE to see it again!!! Awesome special effects, and many 'jumpy scary' scenes!!!(NOTE* I FINALLY found ROSE RED on DVD! I really enjoyed watching this movie again!!! Im thrilled to finally have this as a part of my DVD collection! Still had me on the edge of my seat! Again, those special effects are out of this world, not to mention I LOVE LOVE LOVE Stephen King!
This was SO awesome. I wish Nick lasted tho. I didn't even realize 4 hours had passed until the person I was watching with pointed it out!
my girlfriend says this mini series gives you goosebumps,, now im running everywhere to find this, n see it for myself!!!
Stephen King at his best!! Darn shame the actual diary turned out to be a hoax!! Would have been one heck of a book/movie then!!!!
Being a huge Stephen King fan such as I am it pains me to give this a single star. But to be honest, the story is painfully dull from start to finish. It is to similar to some of his other works and overall, not very interesting at all.
I like the scenes and the unusual characters that all come together in a spooky old house good ending to good movie
This movie ROCKED. I totally love how they made all those psycho's come out of that house! Haha I loved those people. I wanna visit them someday =D
oh!!! i was just looking for this movie in my vast collection of taped vhs's!!! i love it, even though it's a cheesy scary, it's way freakin scary! and the song... something by benny goodman? i'm not sure, but they make i tway creepy.. eek!
I would not call this scary, but still it was good. I did not like a lot of the characters, and the special effects weren't so special--but I did like the statue taking off its face. The gargoyles were perfect. I like the idea of a house fucking with people's mind...changing shape, moving. I hated Emery and it would almost seem he had a subconscious taste for necrophilia...but at the same time I enjoyed hating him.
Scared the crap out of me...I actually slammed my fingers in a door after this while trying NOT to slam my fingers in a door
I love this movie. Keep in mind it is a made for tv movie and will take severl hours to watch. I have watched it several times and own it.
Interesting mini series set in my town of Seattle. The psychic aspect of the series is a bit goofy at times, but the mansion is wonderful and it's always good to see Julian (Warlock) Sands working. Set aside an eve or two and have fun with it.

I think this is the best horror movie ever. It is the only horror movie I will ever watch all the way through. I love this movie, it is one of my favorites! Just a word of advice don't watch it alone in the dark!
I just love this movie/film or what the heck you call it. :P
It is very exiting, but it's not so good that you must change DVD-disk in the end of the movie/film. :(
But it's really good when you finally gets trough it. I mean, it's 4 hours..
Originally a great Stephen King story, that's lost some of it's sting in this made for TV adaption.Watch it on TV & you will be sorry you watched it with all the comercial cuts.Watching it on DVD is a different situation. You will enjoy it if you like Stephen King's stories."Rose Red" shouldn't be watched alone. If it's blood letting you like, the "locker scene" in Stanley Kubrick's "FULL METAL JACKET" is worthy of it's Restricted sensorship."FULL METAL JACKET" will please all Stephen King fans just to see the leatherlung D.I. (Lee Ermey)terminated in the locker room before the passing out parade from boot-camp.
