Set in Tokyo in 2002, the film centers on Keisuke (Masatoshi Nagase), a fledgling actor who manages to snag a bit part in a samurai actioner when he catches the eye of the film's star, Mika (Kumiko Asou). This lucky break proves to be a mixed blessing, as the lead samurai (Naoto Takenaka) is a vain prima donna who blames Keisuke for his foul-ups. Keisuke's personal life is equally chaotic -- his longtime girlfriend Eri (Akiko Monou) just dumped him; and even though he finds solace in the arms of Mika, he can't forget his ex. Meanwhile, Eri -- who is mute in the wake of the breakup -- gets dragged to a panel discussion on the environment by her television-director sister Kaoru (Tamaki Ayakawa). There she learns that the same swarthy Italian guy (Daniel Ezralow) who picked her up a week ago is one of the impaneled experts.
