The animations are awesome...But the storyline is still too 90-ish or maybe older... They still keep that "saving the damsel in distress" scenes in this movie...I though that Sakura and Chun Li can kick major butt in this movie...But they got butt kicked...But Sakura looks real cute in this movie...Hehe...^-^ But still...Its still a nice movie to watch and see the characters making appearance in a movie...
The focus is around Ryu (Yea, big surprise!) as he struggles to not succumb to his inner "dark hadou", a "Dark Side - Star Wars-esq" power that resides within him.
With its decent fighting & less than decent story line, it is a predictable & saddly unworthy component to the Street Fighter saga.
Focus is around Ryu (big surprise) and his struggle as a fighter to not succumb to his internal dark powers. It has a good story and pretty decent fighting. Definitely better than the Street Fighter anime that came before (Street Fighter V).
Sequel to the action-packed Street Fighter anime has Ryu battling his own demons as he finds himself going the same path as Akuma, the killer of his master as the 'dark hadou' starts to take over him. Chun-Li, Ken, Sakura and Rose form the main cast along with cameos from other characters. No M.Bison this time, a scientist is the villian this time around who is hoping to learn the secret of the destructive 'dark hadou' in order to rule the world. Not as much action as its' predecessor but when it comes, it's pretty kick-ass. Lot of philosophy though from Ryu as everyone wonders if he doesn't fight to get stronger and be better then why does he fight?
i was extremely excited for this movie because i am a huge street fighter fan, but i was fairly dissapointed. the story was weak, most of the characters were underused, everytime they made you think they would show a tournament they got one or two matches in and changed the story, and many of the characters i love were absent from this movie. they hyped up an akuma battle that they never showed and they lead up to the climax was better than the climax itself. it had a few bright spots for street fighter fans that makes it an average movie, but it should have been much better.
This spin-off/reboot/seperate continuity something to the classic Street Fighter animated film follows in the footsteps of some of the beautifully animated fight scenes from the first film, though the film's plot is sadly lacking.
Come for the fight scenes, and stay for the fight scenes, but don't stick around too much longer.
This was one of the better anime movies based on a video game that I've seen - then again there have been so many incarnations of Street Fighter cartoons that they've had a chance to flesh things out a bit more. Still, this is an interesting view of things and the animation is pretty top notch.
a mad scientist is completing a perfect fighter for a special tournament that will bring all the best of the street fighters in one hell of a ride....but the scientist needs a precious fighter-info to complete his project... the INFOs of RYU the street fighter champ.... this is not one easy task, but he'll know it soon enough!!!!
This OVA was a huge dissapointment after the SFII Movie. Despite mangle's title of "Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie", this is NOT a movie. It was a 2 part OVA.
Gets 3.5 just for being SF but unfortunately the animation doesn't match to the 1st movie at all and is quite disappointing because of that. Different style just not to my liking but if u can't get enough of SF....
Decent descent into nostalgia for this former SF obsessive. As a child, it was a big deal to me, getting the comics, playing the SNES version of SF II. But when it moved to the PlayStation as Alpha, and introduced a whole bunch of new charachters i lost interest. This film does prove, there is still life in the thing.
more characters than i expected, a little too focused on ryu. the movie teases you with a look at akuma and you really want to see ryu and akuma fight, but they don't. fights that are in the movie are awesome and the moves are grander then those of street fighter II: animated movie
It seems like the plot in Street Fighter Alpha tries to be its greatest strength, yet ends up being its greatest weakness. All in all, the plot is pretty inconsequential. The movie's narrative seems to be striving for some sort of deeper philosophical meaning. Unfortunately, in doing so, it becomes a confusing mess of melodramatic posturing and stoical scenes of characters contemplating, "Why do we fight?". Even the main antagonist comes across as an afterthought, in light of the time spent on Ryu's inner struggle with the "Dark Hadou".
i think it's the one i saw - ryu has blue eyes - hmmmm. And they ate beans and weiners on a rooftop? Big...machine ....thing?? Ryu battling evil hadou within?? "Mommy & Daddy's gotta get a little-!" And Ryu clamps Ken's mouth shut. I hear it's all over the place and inacurate but i still thought it was kinda cute.
This is a really good film not as good as the second one but good in its own way. The fight scenes are good and so are the graphics. If your a fan of the game, anime or just a fan of streetfighter then you will like it.
