Chris Cody (Steven Seagal), the world's best counter-terrorist agent, is released from prison-but there's a catch, Him and his crack team of soldiers must work out the reason an American Ambassador was assassinated by the Secret Service. They run into hostile fire from an enemy force but come out for the better and take some prisoners with them, only to learn that these men were soldiers from another unit that mysteriously vanished that have now become vicious, maniacal killing monsters. They dig deeper into the conspiracy and finds it leads all the way to a twisted doctor (Nick Brimble) and his mind control experiments and soon find themselves in a desperate fight for their lives.
Submerged floats tantalizingly just above the "It's complete crap" zone and manages, incredibly, to be reasonably entertaining. For me, the saving graces of this movie are Vinnie Jones and William Hope. Hope shows here that he is a pretty good actor and Jones just cracks me up with his Brit-Thug routine. Sadly, though there is one attempt at a knife fight on board a submarine, the result is not that pleasing. The rest of the movie is mostly gunfights and Jones beating the crap out of people, not Seagal. But overall, this is a very sloppy production. -

MCT:July 23, 2007Uuugh! Another mindless Seagal movie. Vinnie Jones was the only really watchable part of this snorefest. Heres my question. . . If the movie is called 'Submerged', why is there less than 15 minutes spent on a submarine in the entire movie?!? Bad, even by Seagals standards.

Seagal, Vinnie jones, Hatchet Harry, Gorgoues Geroge at the seems this was going to be a good film. but not as much action seemless ploit and voices overs spoils this film , Could have been better but if your a seagal or Vinnie fan then worth the watch!

MCT:September 23, 2006You know what's the similiarities between me and Steven Seagal? We both go from B grade movie to B grade movie. Except i've only been watching them while he's acting in them. Yup, Submerged is another one of Steven Seagal's movies. This time its about brain-washing (similiar to Manchurian Candidate).
Cody (played by Seagal) is a mercenary captain who's freed form prison on the condition that he and his crack team of mercs have to take out a military base and take out Dr Lehder, the mad scientists who brain-washes soldiers and turns them againt their own country. After taking out the military base and rescueing some American captives, Cody's team make their escape on an old submarine. However, unknown to Cody, the rescued captives have been brain-washed and they try to hijack the submarine...
Not much of Seagal's kung-fu in this movie. Although his tema is pretty big, it has got some cool characters in it, especially Henry, a former S.A.S. (played by none other than Vinnie Jones) as well as some hispanic guy who pokes fun at Henry and calls him the 'back door guy', refering to his days in prison. -

Despite the hilariously bad looking toy plane at the beginning, Submerged is quite entertaining. The action is pretty nifty and gory at times and the story is a cut above the rest. Seagal is hilarious as usual (best line 'You cocksucking motherfucker!') and the editing... well, man oh man, this editing is insanely fast and abrupt. Talk about a million jump cuts.
