Gorgeous to look, but completely pointless in whatever it was trying to say. Is the kind of movie that feels more like solving a riddle than watching a story unfold, why do the characters behave in certain ways? Who is fighting who? Why are these kids fighting? Why they won't age...( read more)? Who knows, who cares. At the end i felt i knew even less about the characters as the story progressed, and eventually couldn't care about any of them. Oshii should consider a different career choice.

very stylisitc and the concept was excellent, but unfortunately this film didnt deliver on anything else. the concept wasnt fleshed out and nothing in the film was developed well, the pacing was far too slow, and the dialogue could have been written by a 10 year old. a visually...( read more) captivating film that fell far short of its potential.

Oshii's best film since AVALON, and a triumphant return to his brilliant style of solemn, philosophical filmmaking.

Extremely slow paced film. The animation were nearly "stills." The storyline is dry. So what it's 3-D. The animation wasn't top notch.

Beautifully animated and very slick but just too brooding, too long and dare I say even a little too emo to be considered essential anime?

Some of the animation was way cool... but this is the SLOWEST movie EVER. We entertained ourselves laughing about what a slow movie this was. Don't bother with this unless you're a true anime fan.

Good animation, but that's as far as this movie's merits go. Excruciatingly slow-paced and convoluted. A huge disappointment from Oshii whose other movies were superb. Seek entertainment elsewhere if at all possible.

Awesome animation, but boring story. Not enough plane scenes for a movie about pilots.
  • July 10, 2009
    The animations was quite nice...
