Summer Rain (El camino de los ingleses)
Director Antonio Banderas's reflective sophomore drama follows nascent poet Miguelito (Alberto Amarilla) and his best friends, Paco (Félix Gómez) and Babirusa (Raúl Arévalo), as they confront their pasts and ponder their futures while coming of age in 1970s-era southern Spain. Based on the novel by author Antonio Soler, the story centers largely on Miguelito's relationship with the beautiful Luli (María Ruiz) and his struggle to move beyond his youthful indiscretions.

Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"A train wreck of a movie."
‑ Kirk Honeycutt, Hollywood Reporter
"A technically classy mood piece that ultimately falls victim to stylistic excesses."
‑ Jonathan Holland, Variety
"When in the mood for a sultry, summery Spanish mood piece, this film might fit the bill. Whether it signals the arrival of a new auteur, that is another matter entirely."
‑ Boyd van Hoeij, european-films.net
