Charlie subsists on a steady diet of fright flicks, and even runs his very own movie review website. But lately his love of the genre has been wrecking havoc on his GPA. Summer classes start tomorrow, providing Charlie with one last change to indulge in an epic horror bender that stretches deep into the wee hours of the night. The following day in class, however, Charlie's sleeplessness catches up with him and he begins to nod off at his desk. Every time Charlie's eyes close, the nightmares take hold. Each sleep-deprived vision is more vivid than the last, and the deeper Charlie drifts into fantasy the further his grip on sanity slips. Confronted by a relentless wave of nightmare threats ranging from slashers to vampires to Nazis and satanic cults, the increasingly disoriented student gradually loses the ability to discern whether he is awake or asleep.
