Danny Boyle is a talented visual director who somehow ends up spoiling his films by going overboard. Maybe he should be commended for his risk taking but quite frankly Sunshine, apart from its unlikable cast, was going really well until the puzzling last 15 minutes. What the hell...( read more)

Sunshine is one of the greatest of all science fiction pictures. Danny Boyle offers his third masterpiece (behind Trainspotting and 28 Days Later).
We meet our crew, already en route to their mission: the sun, where they must send a bomb into its core that will reignite it and...( read more) -

mega creepy, but why would the sun be dying in 50 years? we have got a couple billion years before we have to worry about that.

Watching this movie made me realize that Danny Boyle is an overrated director ,after all!!! Consider this:All his films are the same thing (about extreme circumstances and the reaction of the people-somehow- involved in!) "Trainspotting" was perfect, "shallow grave" & "28days lat...( read more)

A very visually stunning film, however i does give off a vibe very similar to Event Horizon. However very slick and intriguing viewing.

Surreal, poinient, metaphysical, as basic as black and white like yin and yang and back again, an exploration into the unknown on so many diferent levels.
Some coll actors but I was to sleepy/dreamy though strangely fully awake enough to regard performances ect.... I do recomm...( read more) -

A fairly good sci-fi flick that had me completely hooked in the begining...the rest of the film was a bit of a let down, but I still managed to enjoy most of it.
Critic Reviews
"Sunshine" is 90% a great film, a believable and intriguing meditation on life, the human spirit and how far some people are willing to go for the betterment of all mankind. full review
The film is nonsense, and what counts is whether viewers will feel able to lay aside their logical complaints and bask in what remains: a trip in search of a tan. full review
The pressure to save mankind is enormous, and our attention grows as the tension mounts. Light is used in haunting and powerful ways throughout. But as the film ultimately deviates from its course, th... full review
The overall effect is the creation of something truly unbearable -- and the curious thing is that this unbearableness is apparent from the first portentous voice-over 30 seconds into the film. full review
...science-fiction fans will like it, and also brainiacs, and those who sometimes look at the sky and think, man, there's a lot going on up there, and we can't even define precisely what a soliton is. full review
If you go in expecting another 'Aliens' you're likely to feel burned. This modestly produced tale is about cerebral and thoughtful as the science fiction action genre gets.Boyle's ambitious film bites... full review
As with 28 Days Later, [director Danny] Boyle makes Sunshine almost literally unwatchable. full review
The first hour and change is gangbusters, the last part unnerving enough to get by. full review

March 5, 2008I don't understand why people have a problem with the ending to this movie. A crazed crew member from the first Icarus tries to sabotage the next mission. The protagonists succeed in completing the mission by sacrificing themselves in order to deliver the payload in the only possible way left. What else could they have done to make the ending better without making the film devoid of a high note at the end?

August 7, 2007The first 2/3rds of this movie were awesome! Then I don't know what happened exactly. The camera got blurry as if the special effects and makeup weren't good enough for filming. Perhaps the camera man was just drunk the last couple months of shooting. Whatever the reason.. I'd suggest watching almost the entire movie and then shutting it off.

July 27, 2007not too bad..a lot better then most sci-fi films that have come out in the past..Supernova for example..and a hell of a lot better than Transformers.
