I couldn't possibly say enough positive things about this film.

This is a MUST-SEE for any film lover. Creative, brilliant use of color & characters - This is a musical delight laced into interweaving stories that entertain, amuse & amaze. Rich sets & costumes, excellent acting and well crafted themes..this is a piece to be studied.

Full of detail, laughs, & heart.

My only wish is that these fellas (who've pretty much only done commercials & other nonsense) keep creating such inspiring works. I could watch this on loop & generate a countless number of flavorful pieces of art. ::love::

seemingly random jumble of lives, but there is a great collective ending; this film is bizarre and at times truly hilarious. i thought vinnie jones and arakawa were great together. i loved the sets, wardrobe and soundtrack!

One of strangest, most profound, silly, touching, surreal, lovable, funny and oddly soothing films I've ever seen. It will be hard to knock this out of my top 10. Just submit to the power of the film and finish it in one sitting. You never know where it's going to go, just know you'll be glad when you do.

This is a spectacular film that could've used some tightening up. There were simply too many scenes that dragged or broke up the flow. SS5 is the kind of film that should play out like a song and hit beats. It manages to do this very well for the most part, but then some parts just seem to dwell for too long. It would've worked had they only used this technique sparingly, but they did it often.

It's a quick-witted film with amazing set and costume designs. The stories in this all work very well together and it's highly entertaining. It just misses the mark ever-so slightly because of the pacing and length.

It's well-worth seeking out - you're unlikely to see many films like this.

wow what an insane trip. even the sub stories don't develop much beyond the first five minutes you are introduced to them, but they are continually entertaining. koko imagines commercials which are all hilarious and the constant battles of a man in trench coat against his dead wife is always interesting. even vinnie jones plays an interesting part as he goes around becoming involved in all the other characters stories. japanese films are quite weird but this one is insane. keep an open mind and expect the unexpected from this one! its very funny, demented and completely absurd check it out!

A truly insane and beautifully dark work of genius, in which an obscure variety of themes intertwine, the three most predominant being a man who thinks he is a bird, a man who just can't seem to kill his girl, and...Vinnie Jones?

This has Tadanobu Asano and it sounds interesting. The premise sounds like a dark comedy similar toI Love You to Death which I didn't get at first since I watched that as a kid but later on ah ok it's black comedy , haha.

Amazing film. Interweaves 5 stories about love, sex, life, death, and marketing. BRILLIANT! Hilarious. Run to see this if you get a chance.

I enjoyed everything about this movie, but on a more disconnected level. The plot intertwines? Not really. It's seemingly just a bunch of different stories that lightly relate to eachother through a person or an event, that was my only problem with this film. Everything was pure sponteanity, and the random fight scenes were also pretty dope (especially the one where Asano flies over the car, what the fuck were they thinking?) as well as how nicely it looked in terms of colour and lighting. I'd watch it only if you like unrelated stories and nonlinear plots. I also want my dad to become a hypnotized bird. That'd be awesome.

Wow, what a movie. One of the nost unique movie experiences. Great story and weird seemingly unrelated characters that at one point or another meet one another to create this great movie. Not recommended for people without imagination

Extremely random and pointless, but the movie is hilarious, artistic, and extremely unique. I've never seen a film like it.

Poptastic and berserk, this is a lot of manic, colorful fun. I recently screened this for friends and they loved it - it's nothing deep, just insane Japanese eyecandy, but frequently very funny and wildly imaginative.

I've never seen this movie, but Robert Jackson loves it and most of the stuff he loves sucks alot. So by that logic, I'm sure it really sucks.

Coming into Survive Style 5+ for the first time I knew nothing of what to expect, I just wanted to see it because Tadanobu Asano was in it. Well what a ride this movie turned out to be!

Survive Style 5+ follows 5 seperate storylines that weave together at various points. One plotline revolves around a man killing his wife only to have her come back from the dead every time he kills her with new superhuman strength and abilities. A second plot follows a commercial creator with an estranged sense of humor while the other plots follow a group of 3 juvenile burglars, a foreign assassin and his translator, and a family who's father is stuck hypnotized as a bird.

Survive Style is a wacky and stylish ride, everything from the cinematography to the set design screams style. The film is an absolute laugh riot too.

This is by far one of the best films I've seen in a long, long time. Do yourself a favor and check out Survive Style 5+, or else I'll come back from the dead and kick your ass.

This is mental and mint. As stated nearly everywhere it is like a Japanese Pulp Fiction in that separate stories are brought together in the conclusion. For some reason Vinnie Jones is in it.

Love the dude who gets hypnotised to think he's a bird. Plus the hypnotist dude makes some classic gyps to his bord.

I guess a movie like SS5+ bases it's whole appeal on how unpredictable it can be, that is not a bad thing per se, but not only a film needs to have something more than just that, there certainly exist levels of creativiy in running a experiment like that.

SS5+ attempts to be this all fun demential collection of gags, all trown in different directions, hoping something will stick. Some do: your average japanese salary man thinking he's a bird after being hipnotized, Tadanobu Asano killing, and eventually facing the resurrected body of his psycho wife again and again. But there are others that not only doesn't work, it feel like just half baked lazy ideas the director trow in, like a woman working on promotional ads that thinks she is brighter and funnier than she really is, or 3 goofy house robbers that have a "brokeback mountain" thing going on betwen two of them.

I'm very much on favor of films that try to break conventional movie-making rules in favor in something unique, as long as they do know what they're doing. There are plenty of examples of films that have managed to succed in doing that (Seijun Suzuki's Branded to Kill, Takashi Miike's Gozu, Thai flick Tears of the Black Tiger) SS5+ might had sound great on paper, but on screen it feels way too missmatched to actually consider it a full film and not just a collection of one-trick-pony gags. Yeah, i know what you're thinking "how can a film with Vinnie Jones, Tadanobu Asano and Sonny Chiba fails to be rad and actually become very dull?" Believe me, i was asking the same thing to myself.
