I liked this movie, although it wasn't really what I expected. With all the big names in this cast, I guess I was just hoping for something a little more from this film. Although I have read mixed reviews about it.
I know a lot of guys like Bud Johnson, so that honest portrayal ...( read more)by Kevin Costner was nice to see. Someone admitting they really don't know what's going on with the state of this country but knowing that they should pay more attention. I really enjoyed Madeline Carroll as Molly. She was cute, and smart and her and Mr. Costner had great father daughter chemistry on screen. I do like Kelsey Grammer, Stanley Tucci, and Nathan Lane but for whatever reason Dennis Hopper has always disturbed me a tad.
I do wish they would have ended the movie differently but, I understand why it was done the way it was.

While the premise is totally absurd, the execution of this 'old-school' comedy is kinda refreshing. The ever charismatic Kevin Costner is great as the loser who becomes responsible for the fate of a nation. A wonderfully eclectic support cast are great and it's nice to see Dennis...( read more) Hopper again. As political comedy goes, there are plenty of jabs at the American media and the lengths a candidate will go to for victory. Well worth a watch, if only for the faux promotional ads the candidates direct at Bud (Costner). Not comedy gold, but perhaps more overlooked than it should be.

I didn't think I was going to like this movie at all, but I really did. It's about an ignorant American schlubb (the exaggerated everyman) whose daughter is far quicker than he is. The trappings and pettiness of campaigning are also exaggerated here, with the Republican's scare t...( read more)actics and cross-attack ads being the funniest. The thing I find most refreshing about this movie is that by the end, the filmmakers never pick a side. It ends at the beginning of the Bud-moderated presidential debates, which disappointed me a little bit, but I understand why they did that.

This one surprised me a bit I must admit. I didn't think this was going to be any good and in fact it was. The story was kinda interesting and somewhat funny, but the Cast did it. Costner still got it, they even had "Chip" from who's line...but I think the little girl stole the s...( read more)how. She's good...someone to watch definitely!!!

GOOD AVERAGE MOVIE, JUST WAY TOO PREDICTABLE

Okay movie, sometimes overly preachy. Costner, Patton, Grammer, Hopper, Lane, Tucci and newcomer Madeline Carroll deliver solid performances.

Kevin Costner's still got it going for me. It was a good family movie, which was good for a weekday for my us.
