Sally Fields is amazing, the way she jumps from one emotion to another....only she can do it like this
Watched this movie on Tuesday and kept it to watch it again on Wednesday. This is the first 3 and a half hour movie that I've done that with. Usually celebrities acting like crazy people make me laugh. Rainman comes to mind... But Sally Field scared the crap out of me here. The whole film has this sense of doom and dread and pain and sickness. Amazing movie.
As a mentally ill person, I can applaud the masterful performance of Sally Fields in the movie and, when I saw it last year again, I realized how nuanced Woodward's performance was.
A great and moving portrait of a disturbed woman. It is even more amazing that this was made for TV, it is better than most of what goes into the theaters.
Sally Field is excellent in this. The movie sensationalizes the book quite a bit--the book was less scary. Actually, this is a rare instance when I don't think the book and movie should be compared. The movie is respectable as a completely separate entity.
