I really do like this movie. It's a predictable movie about how these students who believe that they are the school rejects then realise that they arent and take the lead to step up and dance. I love the dancing and the music in this movie. They combined 2 different dance styles, Ballroom which is classy and Hip Hip which is more free to become one dance style. This kinda reminds me a bit like Step Up since Jenna Dewan is in it. But instead of combining Hop Hop and Ballroom it was Ballet and Hip Hop. My favourite dance would have to be the tango with Sasha and the 2 other guys. That really blew me away. I loved her dress and it was really good. What's really awesome about this film is that it's based on a true story.
Inspired by a true story, Antonio Banderas stars as internationally acclaimed ballroom dancer Pierre Dulane. The film revolves around a professional dancer who volunteers to teach in the New York City...public school system. But when his classic methods clash with his students' hip hop instincts, he teams up with them to create a new style of dance and becomes their mentor in the process. "Take the Lead" co-stars Alfre Woodard and marks the feature directing debut of veteran music video helmer Liz Friedlander.
It's a cute movie and it held my interest. I am not much for dance movies, unless it's a musical, but this one wasn't bad. It's about a dance teacher in New York, that takes on a 'detention' class and for their detention, they must learn to ballroom dance. Based on a true story; this was a good movie and I'd recommend it.
love this flim it is so gd, the dancing and everything at first i expectred the flim to be rubbish but it is so gd i especially love the end when the girl says something to the girl but the other girl first said it to her when she was learning to dance
Wow, a great story and the actors and dancers were all great, but I wasn't comfortable with the more sensual moments and icky stuff. But overall I'd say I liked it.
this film if you l;uv dancing you should watch it especially since it is to do with a true story- it reli shows that you can do anything if u believ you can
this actually looked kind of good. as a rule, dance movies are usually pretty bad. which is annoying to me, because i enjoy dance. two movies that are decent: center stage and billy elliott. this is based on a true story though, so it could have merit. i wouldn't mind checking it out sometime when i have nothing better to do
A classical dance instructor Pierre Dulaine (Antonio Banderas) is led to the basement where the students have earned detention for the remainder of the year to teach them classical dance to convince them to keep the dance program going to make their way to the dance competition.
this movie is really awesome i like it , and it shows real things going on and its based on a true story , its about a teacher in NEW YORK city public school , and he teaches them how to experience the ballroom dancing . great movie. H.M
I really liked this movie too. It was beautiful how the students grew as people and loved to appreciate a lot of things they never would have if they hadn't had the experience of dancing ballroom and what not.
So I thought this was going to be a really cool inspirational education dance movie which is like my guilty pleasure......but the ending was like wayyy disappointing. Cool dance moves and still a neat true story but not the best movie.
A very good ballroom dancer - teacher played by Antonio Banderas wants to make something out of nothing, well almost nothing, and since troubled or misunderstood teenagers are difficult to begin with he's in for some ruff times. Well anyways unlike other so many movies that involve dancing this is one of them that has a very good story attached to it, very good dancing and different styles and each of the characters have their own sad or dark story, and thanks to their new teacher Pierre their lives will change. A pretty enjoyable movie with lots of new blood and pottential and one great actors i really respect and admire, Antonio Banderas. ENJOY:D
A pretty spectacular movie a la Sister Act. Take a ragged and rough group of bored teenagers, add Banderas as a dance instuctor and his sexy sidekick and you have a dancing group of deliquents instead of a singing group of deliquents. The plot is weak but the dancing is amazing so definitely watch it.
Really great dance movie! ^__^ Antonio Banderas in a dance movie. When I heard it I was like "What? He can't pull that off! But I so wanna see it anyway!". Guess what? He COULD do it! He was amazing! From Zorro to dance king ;) I also really liked Yaya DaCosta, she is beautiful and a great actress. Also Rob Brown. Two young awesome people. We need more youths like them in showbiz!
