A movie that seems on the verge of being thrilling...and still never gets there.Hawke does his best though there isn't much he can do with this lame story...Notable only for its cast.
Great edge of your seat thriller with my gal Angelina! Some predictable elements and Martinez' indeciferable accent keep it from a perfect rating (Yes, I know it takes place in Montreal!). Still, highly recommended.
this film really suprized me, Angelina Jolie was pretty good & Ethan Hawke was dam good.. A very well put together script. The only thing is that I had already figured out the killer within the 1st 10 minutez of the movie...
That scene when Ethan Hawke and Angelina Jolie were having sex, was suppose to be hot, but the story made it soo fucking disturbing. The scene in the elevator was awesome too. Good thriller.
So slow to begin with developing into a very good story with a lot of plot twists. Jolie can pull off the action/thriller role. Ethan Hawke also ended up being quite good and Kiefer Sutherland is awesome no matter how long he's in a movie for.
Great thriller. Angelina and Ethan Hawke does excellent jobs. I'm very surprised with the low publicity of this. Maybe it's the very graphic nature of the film. But there's no doubt that this is an excellent movie.
The title is the only real twist going into this movie. First thought you might figure "why not just call it murder" but then with the beginning "identity theft" scene, you get it. Then you see the killer, and know he's the killer up until the end, where they reveal he's the killer. And although I don't think a movie needs a twist or anything like that to be good, it suffered because it was trying o so hard to surprise you. Jolie was average, which is normal, Sutherland probably would have been great if he was in it for more than 10 minutes, and Hawke was good, he was there, but he didn't really leave an impression. It was good and kept me entertained, but it isn't the best film out there.
Taking Lives was a below average intelligence thriller with a seemingly above average director. The story was sort of intriguing with some pretty decent plot twists but there were a couple of bold moves (that i won't mention so not to spoil) that kept me on the edge of the seat throughout. The director was smart to keep most of the movie's focus on the killer and his past and present circumstances and the dark settings were of course very suiting. The acting was sort of hit or miss here, Hawke was very good in this one but Jolie was only decent and her Canadian detective underling was rather poorly played. The ending is too far fetched but mostly this one is pretty decent- especially if you like crime thrillers.
This was... stupid. Yeah. I said it. A poorly assembled plot and really two-dimensional charecters. It was trying to be alot more than it was and failed...
This was a pretty boring movie. There wasn't a whole lot of suspense going on with this one and I pretty much knew who the killer was right off the bat. The premise was good and it could have been done well but the pacing was slow and the characters were not fleshed out enough for me to care about. Bone Collector is far superior to this flick.
"This is definitely going to be a great twisted film."
Middle of the movie:
"Well...
It's not exactly great, but at least I'm not sleepy.
I'll wait and see what happens. I'm sure it will be worth it.
... And who the hell taught Angelina Jolie how to act?... Or not to act, to be more precise."
this movie did not disappoint with its suspense and well written storyline......the acting was good from angelina jolie and ethan hawke was truly amazing in his piece, kiefer sutherland also made an appearance in the movie and helped amplify the movie with his acting skills. the movie is rated R and it is a must see if you enjoy movies with twisted, edge of your seat action....ooh it also has one of the best serial killers a movie can produce...watch it!!
