Plot: Controversial German symphony conductor Wilhelm Furtwängler (Stellan Skarsgård) was one of the most renowned of his profession in the 1930s. In this film based on a true story, American offi...( read more  )cer Steve Arnold (Harvey Keitel) mercilessly prosecutes Furtwängler, whom he sees only as a standard war criminal. Upon learning more about the man, however, he realizes that Furtwängler's gift for music is stronger than any political ties.
