He decides he must leave his family to seek employment abroad in order to provide them with much-needed money. He is victimized by a shipwreck and loses his memory, and his wife is forced to accept the marriage proposal of an evil mining official. The shipwrecked teacher manages to return home years later, but his memory is still clouded.
