A character so intriuging and complex like this is an amzing thing. No film has every had such a fascinating story that houses the insanity of its main character with such balance like this film. The use of symbolism and metaphor in the plot is something amazing. Requires dedicat...( read more)ion on the viewers part to see the subtle genius of the film. Truly a work of art the deserves one of my rare perfect ratings.

I watched this movie 3 times(i know a low number for a fan) and i want to watch it much more. But i dont want to review this masterpiece.I want the tagline to talk for me: On every street in every city, there's a nobody who dreams of being a somebody.Of course a movie like "Taxi D...( read more)river" isnt only saying this. But i dont have to blab.Give this masterpiece a try;understand it,empathy with Travis, and let the movie speak. But there is a thing i want to say:"This is Cinema."

    I love Robert De Niro
  • December 10, 2009
Classic collaboration of two of cinema's finest - Scorsese and DeNiro.

I was expecting something else for the end. Even if, for me, it was unpredictable, it had nothing dramatic in it. The end was too quiet. About that rape scene everyone was talking about, I didn't had the chance to see it because, as I could see, my movie was censored. So, ...( read more)I can't express myself about that particular scene. Bummer!

    Warning: SPOILER!

You can say anything to me, but from my point of view it would have been just fine to leave Travis dead. And even so, even if Scorsese wanted to revive him, he should have done something about the relationship between Travis and Betsy. :)

Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster and the director: great!

One of the greatest films in the history of cinema. Martin Scorsese's "Taxi Driver" deviates the philosophical filmmaking from a number of stereotypes from its generation up till now. This is a story told in its most understated yet eye-opening horror of the human society. True g...( read more)reat perfomances embellished the scenes. These include Robert De Niro's Travis Bickle and Jodi Foster's young prostitute role which make me want to think, "Is she a real underage sex worker there?". The film is dark with ego, and red with violence, a true world situation which director Martin Scorsese wants to impart to its audience.

One of my favorites from Scorsese and one of Robert De Niro's best performances. It is an amazing story that is both original and fearless. It spares no expense to delve into the mind of someone with nothing to lose and a lust for vengeance. The film style has a great naturalisti...( read more)c feel to it and makes the movie even more realistic and enjoyable to the viewer.

ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES!!! Kids today need to see this film, one of DeNiro's all time great performances, I love Martin Scorsese in the bit part he puts himself in. Every character is memorable and most of them have gone on to have incredible careers. Robert DeNiro, Harv...( read more)ey Keitel, Albert Brooks, Cybil Shephard phenomenal. and this has one of DeNiro's most quoted lines "you talking to me?" and the amazing thing is the subtlety of the performance, of a man craking at the edges. Intense, but not over acted. Martin Scorsese is the man.

Travis is such a monstrous man, and to see him snap is at once sad and unforgettable.

Taxi Driver is a haunting and gripping drama. The story is about a lonely cab driver. After losing a friendship with a beautiful woman, he becomes angry and embittered. This causes him to slowly lose his mind. As he begins to feel more insecure in his job and surroundings,he buys ...( read more)guns and knives. He then sets out on a personal mission to change his society, using violent means. The film is involving because of its character study. It is a chilling narrative of how loneliness and despair can lead to insanity. But the film is memorable because of Robert De Niro's performance. He is skilled at acting with facial expressions and without too many words. In this role, he is frightening. The film is another classic directed by Martin Scorsese .

I thought this would be better. I just didnt really get the flow of the film's plot, but everything else is superb. It builds with a menacing promise of a non-cheery end for all or some of Travis' foes. You can see the influence of this film in so many other films. I have seen th...( read more)e bits and odds of this but never the whole film till now. Kind of made me feel dirty in a similar way that 'There will be Blood' did.

Totally, Totally *Hands Up* Underestimated this movie the first time around. There's a reason it's a classic, even if like me... you don't see it at first. Turns out... it's actually a pretty fucking cool movie!

Even from the opening its raw. It's powerful. It makes a statement...( read more). I feel like people could study this movie forever and then it'd still only be the tip of the iceberg in terms of the vast content and range of interpretations this movie has to offer.

Both De Nero and Scorsese shine in creating and representing the trials and values of one man's search for connection, meaning and validation in an incarcerating society. Set against Hermann's musical score is just intoxicating!

"Listen, you Fuckers, you Screwheads. Here is a man who would not take it anymore. A man who stood up against the Scum, the Cunts, the Dogs, the Filth, the Shit. Here is a man who stood up."

It's sad to think of how this movie lost out at Academy Award time to other contenders such as Rocky, All the President's Men and Network... but equally I think we can all recognise how this movie on it's own merit has stood the test of time.

Always wanted to see this movie and finally did. I was very good movie for all the actors in the movie. Now I know what movie the mirror seen came from (You talking to me).

A really perfect film. Everyone who has felt lonely at some some stage can relate to this masterpiece.
  • October 9, 2009
For this to be a movie made before I was born, it was pretty interesting. I do think it was a movie made just for the sake of making it because there really wasn't any 'point' to it. De Niro was concluded to be a hero, though, he was truly only crazy and his life just went on. En...( read more)ding reminds me of American Psycho. Main character did something bad but didn't have to pay for it. Lastly, I really don't care how crazy De Niro portrays himself to be ... I love him ... I'd definitely get with him...unstable or not.

This movie is a long drawn out descent into madness. The first time I saw this film I was shocked by how the storyline progressed. This film is the antithesis of predictable. The pure and utter method to Travis Bickle's madness was incredibly confusing but at the end of the film his redemption is apparent yet is still quite bittersweet. You as the audience member know that despite his progression as a person he is still doomed to the dark and bleak life of a New York Taxi Driver. This is one of the best films ever made, period.

I Can't say much for Taxi Driver that it doesn't say for itself through the years and years its had to reverberate through the annals of film. Whether you like it or not, it's a classic, something other films will be inspired by. Maybe there are some that do it better, may...( read more)be not. What I got out of it was Scorsese doing a decent job for a change. He finds his hook and sticks with it, that hook being one Robert De Niro and his various assortment of revolvers. Now, I liked this film. Yeah, social commentary, violence, what not, a bit of this and that. But, I have to admit that those 3 1/2 stars are for Bickle's .44 magnum alone. WOW!
